I'm about to order this for myself, for Christmas. The price is steep, but it does not mean it will be bad value. In fact, if the hype is to be believed, this coudl be the most satisfying music I will ever buy....does anybody have any personal experience of it, please? I know the producer has posted here before, so hello if you read this!

You can listen to samples on line to preview the music, though, the sound experience can only really be heard on your system.
Be looking for our second release coming early next year.. a solo piano recording with Art Lande. At CES we will release a 5 song sampler and include 2 tracks from it.

Hi Cookie. I noticed your special offer and snapped it up straight away. I live in England, so I hope it does not take TOO long for my discs to arrive. A generous offer indeed. :-)
I find it interesting that the free CD that you provide has a different mix to the redbook layer on the hybrid disc. If I remember correctly, it was mixed specifically for car and personal stereo use. Hmmm, interesting.
I have a Cabasse stereo system in my car, which is French I believe. I have noticed that this has really good sound reproduction in terms of resolution and timing relative to your average car stereo system. The reason I mention it is that I noticed that your reference speakers were French. Obviously different make, but interesting because France is hardly ever mentioned in hifi circles. At least not here in the UK.
Finally, it was VERY interesting to read the articles about how your project started and developed culminating in what sounds like amazing recording sessions at "the site". I hope to hear the "soul" of the recordings as well as the quality. I'm sure I won't be disappointed. The only problem is when one is THIS excited about an impending product, I can only be blown away or disappointed. I'm sure the former will be the case. :-)

I snapped it up too, and am eagerly waiting for the disc to arrive here in France.
By the way, I listen music with speakers from the same make than the reference speakers used to mix this sacd, they are absolutely wonderful. I hope that I will enjoy this sacd as much as the demo track "waiting for the rain" I downloaded from their site...

Well, it arrived today and I am listening to it. Wow oh wow oh wow. Look, I don't know how to right a proper review, but this music is like a teleportation machine. The music is original, but accessible and familiar at the same time. All heartfelt, honest, and quality songs. The quality is breathtaking.
In terms of quality, they compare with Linn's SACDs. I am not technical enough to say if one is better, but this is at least as good.
I think this shows that music has to be recorded and processed specifically for SACD to maximise the medium's potential. This is not a shortcoming, however, because surely recoding studios up until the 80s were geared towards two channel analogue sources.
Anyway, thanks, Blue Coast, a Merry Christmas to you all. Mine certainly will be.

One more thing, my eyes are tellign my brain that my TV is sat over my centre speaker, but my ears are telling me it's Jose Manuel Blanco. An eerie but satisfying feeling. I will close my eyes. Sigh.

Hi Friends! Happy holidays to you all as well! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the disc. From the sound of it, you experienced it the way we had intended, which is wonderful.
To answer a few questions about why we supplied an extra redbook only disc... I have a bad habit of bringing my cds into the car and leaving them there. I like to keep one next to my home system. The Cabasse system must sound incredible in your car.
The red book cd on both the sacd and the cd are the same mastering sessions, however, if you compare, the sacd/cd has more highs on the red book layer. That is an example of manufacturing differences, that I found fascinating. We didn't do it purposely.
The sacd layer has all the dynamic range in both the surround and stereo. Those who own an sacd player will experience the disc as we intended. If you have surround, then you will truly have the holographic audio that became the Extended Sound Environment recording technique.
In spring we will be releasing our second title, a solo piano record from Art Lande. Come to our website for more information.
The artists, producers, manufacturers and myself are thrilled to know there are people who still care great music and sound on the same disc.

You've brought up an interesting point. I've owned a recording studio and have been and engineer for more than 20 years. When I was first introduced to the SACD and DSD concept was in the mid 90's. At that time, mastering still had a lot of dynamics. We were mixing in a manner that would have been fine for SACD.
After about 1997, there was a trend for making 'loud' masters, which changed even the musicians concepts. While they wanted dynamics, they also wanted loud masters to compete with others recordings. Mastering engineers were forced to compress and then over compress. I'm sorry to say, even the most caring acoustic musicians didn't understand the compromise. Most mastering engineers are still very frustrated over this, but, at the end of the day, an artist will take their masters to someone who will over compress if you don't.
The only real difference between our SACD layer and CD layer is that we didn't compress in mastering, allowing full dynamics to occur. We have the CD disc uncompressed as a 5 song demo of the same music that we give away. We've also made our own downloads, mastering with more compression than the cd to maximize the potential of internet audio. We won't offer downloads unless we're in control of the sound.
As a producer and engineer, I try to explain the trade offs, but it's often futile. As a label owner, I have more control over the sound, but still, need to be aware of staying in business. I feel the SACD provides me the ability to have both worlds. We may release full dynamic red book discs, if the demand is there. In the meantime, we do the best we can in a very crazy music business.
We're looking forward to more music released next year that is not compromised.

I received it 2 hours ago and I'm already listening to it for the second time.
While it is not my preferred kind of music (I'm mostly a classical music and opera lover), I find the playing marvelous and the sound is so fabulous.
I knew it was not a bad move when I recently bought a pair of JMR speakers, but I didn't know that the playing of a sacd through them would seem so much REAL.
Please Cookie, keep the good recording of good music coming.
Nice holidays to all your team. I feel mine will be exceptional with this music hearing ;-)

Thank you so very much! I will pass your comments on to the Reynaud family as well. I receive many wonderful speakers from companies all over the world, but my favorite is sill the JMR's.
