I'm wondering if we could get a count by label on SA-CD.NET. I'm basically talking about a return of the "Labels" page, something like:
==Label Name== ==count of known SACDs== ==link to website==
I guess after viewing every label one by one on SA-CD.NET we could build up a list, but how about exposing the results of a very simple database query?
No doubt some kind of rationale could be cooked up (meaning label politics, not our friends at SA-CD.NET!) for not doing it, but as the information is available already, why not make it more convenient?
I'd like to most encourage those labels who have most supported the format.
One thing I'm doing now is pinging various parties to encourage them to publicize the Sony MEX-DV2000 and XAV-W1 DVD/SACD car players at least to the point of letting their customers know that their SACDs can be played in the car.
Crutchfield is carrying the XAV-W1 but almost nobody in the USA is carrying the MEX-DV2000. Sound & Vision hasn't mentioned them; I guess Sony would have to pay for a "new products" listing, and even though the MEX-DV2000 has been displayed on the home page at xplod.sony.com, otherwise it seems to be near invisible.
Don't get me wrong, my MEX-DV2000 ain't perfect, but this is a seller's market with only one "1 DIN" unit available.

Concerning the list of labels: Sony is listed as varous labels (Columbia, SME, etc), so you'll have to add those together.

Shouldn't there be some distinction made between products, re-released from old masters or ancient quadro recordings, and SA-CD:s derived from brand new, Mch recordings???
In my case, 83 of those 85 are recorded in Mch and concipiated with SA-CD in mind. One is in 2-ch and one is a re-release of the Bach Complete Organ works (5-for-the-price-of-2), using the storage capacity of the SA-CD to great saving for the customer.

As I wrote above, Sony has released SACDs under various labels. The company is the leader of the list, by a wide margin:
Columbia (142)
Sony Classical (90)
SMJI (69)
Epic (52)

A number of those releases are duplicates though (seperate US/European and Japan releases, single layer SACD later reissued as a hybrid, etc)

Yes, BIS is indeed commendable for its contriubution of new content. Bravo! Encore, encore! But, are you sure we are all of sound mind???

no, having followed the posts in this Forum for quite some time now, I am quite sure that "we are all NOT of a sound mind" :-)
But, regarding the use of concipiate: let's look at the following:
WHEREAS I, Robert von Bahr, am happily guilty of the charge of having formed and made this Product; WHEREAS said Product has been put onto the Market with the aim to enrich the lives both of the Buyer and ourselves but also the Artist, Composer and every Middleperson in the Distribution Chain between BIS and the Buyer; WHEREAS, in spite of some floccinaucinihilipilificationous comments from a certain source about our Covers we are inordinately proud of said Product; WHEREAS we claim that said Product is of an absolutely First Class Quality, made by true Professionals; NOW THEREFORE I am bearing witness to the authenticity of this being an honest-to-God Original New Multichannel recording, not something just re-released from old analogue masters or ancient quadro recordings, doing this with the Signatures of the Producer and Balance Engineer being named on the Inlay Card, having proudly produced this SACD for BIS, also vouching for the validity of the Recording Dates, Location and Equipment used enumerated in the Booklet, confirming that not only is the Buyer of said product of legally sound mind, but also in possession of artistically utter perspicacity at the time of buying this Product and signing the Check therefore, having firstly ascertained the Validity of the Claims above by going into www.bis.se to test-listen to 50% of each and every track in the BIS Catalogue free of charge.
I just thought "concipiate" was shorter....
