Right now I'm a stereo-only guy. But of course you're right: surround mixes on those must be -- and are, by all accounts -- great. But the only prospect I see of reissues are from the Japanese, although granted it may not be worth it to re-issue those particular albums without the multichannel mixes (i.e., the best part).

Well, there are lot of stereo-only guys like you, especially among Japanese audiophiles, it seems.
Also, several of the SHM-SACDs are stereo reissues of albums that have previously appeared as multichannel SACDs, if I'm not mistaken.

An artist who has consistently made lush, intimate recordings that would be further enhanced by the supple clarity of SACD is David Sylvian. I'd like to see his Brilliant Trees, Secrets of the Beehive, and the Japan-related Oil on Canvas and Rain Tree Crow on SACD.

Good idea. He is quite aware of sound, so he might be a good candidate for that. Gone to earth is quite famous for the quality of the recording. His unique voice on Secrets of the beehive is too sibilant for my taste. Rain Tree Crow would be perfect for SACD.

I would say that MANY recordings on the ECM catalog would benefit of an SACD release. Most of Manfred Eicher's work is splendidly recorded.

I've stated that sentiment many times before and with only one SACD to date, it seems that ECM is now into downloading 96/24 on HDTracks (a very few selected titles, at that).

Supposedly there are over 1000 titles in the ECM catalog and sorry, I hope they don't show up as SHM~SACDs @ $56 each.

Which is why, in my estimation, it's important to have a state of the art RBCD player and DAC.......as you did mention, most of Manfred Eicher's work IS splendidly recorded and will thus sound excellent on a great RBCD player (as an option to higher def releases and will probably never ALL be released as downloads, either).

And why they never released Keith Jarrett's the Koln Concert as their only SACD title mystifies me as it was their best selling catalog title to date....but IS currently available as a 96/24 download from HDTracks.

Strictly as stereo SHM-SACD I'd like to buy:

Frank Zappa - Joe's garage Acts 1-3
Frank Zappa - Sheik Yerbouti
Frank Zappa - You are what you is
Frank Zappa - Lather
Captain Beefheart - Trout mask replica
Captain Beefheart - Doc at the Radar station
Captain Beefheart - Ice cream for crow
Captain Beefheart - Lick my decalls off
David Bowie - Lodger
David Bowie - "heroes"

It's enough for 2012:-)

He mixed 'Manafon' in 5.1.

In that wheelhouse, I'd love to hear anything by Pere Ubu/David Thomas. Few artists make better aesthetic use of stereo separation and even fewer combine musical high weirdness with such emotional vocal intimacy. Their RBCDs outshine many SACDs in my collection, as demonstration discs, and I can only dream of what the format would draw out of their tapes.

Malcolm Arnold: English, Scottish and Cornish Dances - London Philharmonic (Lyrita)
Witches' Brew - Alexander Gibson, New Symphony Orchestra Of London (RCA Living Stereo/Decca)
Bob and Ray Throw a Stereo Spectacular (RCA Living Stereo)
Ten Years After: A Space In Time (Columbia)

In addition all of the analog and high resolution digital recordings from "Reference Recordings" and all the missing DSD recordings from "Telarc".

UPDATE: Oops I just reread this thread and it appears I have answered this question before.

On February 6, 2009 - Post 76 I requested 18 Howard Hanson Mercury Living Presence recordings
On March 1, 2009 - Post 87 I requested more Johan de Meij recordings
On February 2, 2010 - Post 116 I requested 12 recordings of all kinds of music.
