any advanced word on this release? I stumbled upon it on the BIS website but dont see it for sale at CDUniverse. I look forward to hearing more about this release as I have become quite the fan of Sudbin.

I have not listen to this release yet but it has received highest praises from C. Huss (Classical today France) for both interpretation and sonics. Here is a link to the review, unfortunately in French only:

My English is far too bad to translate it fully but here are two short quotes:
".. one of the very few outstanding Scriabin recordings since Sofronitzky."

This is a superlative disc - great music, recording and performance.
If you are unfamiliar with Scriabin's piano music, this would be a fine introduction. It encompasses terrific works from his entire composing career. If you are familiar with his music, you may be blown away by the performances.
My only complaint is that there is room on the disc for significantly more music.
This is my nomination for piano recording of the year - thus far.

I just listened to the sound samples on JPC and I must confess, Scriabin has improved since I last listened to him. It's on my Wunschzettel (but my own nomination for piano recording of the year would be Wanderer, Works by Liszt and Schubert - Luiza Borac ).

i've got this and basically agree with fafnir. fabulous piano playing. i've never found this music more convincing.

Peter,
Thanks for the link to Hurwitz' review. When I said 'Scriabin has improved,' I think I was talking about the same quality which Hurwitz refers to as "no chromatic sludge here". Chromatic sludge is an apt description of previous recordings, but Sudbin's sludge-free clarity is notable even in the JPC sound samples. I'll order it.
