Hmm?
In the interest of accuracy, you said above that the "new" recording is already 4 years old?
Didn't you?
How does that add up to 10+ years?
Not that it really matters, just nitpicking a bit.I am sure it is also a wonderful performance. Martin Fröst really is one of many great artists at BIS imo.
Personally I am so happy with the first one though that I don't really need another one.
But I may be tempted since it will also possibly provide an interesting comparison, not only between two performances by the same great artist of the same work, but also between what to me at least sounds like a very good DSD recording indeed, and a 24/44.1 pcm recording.
One question leaps to mind, was the "new" recording of the Concerto,by any chance, also engineered by Thore Brinkmann who imho, did such an excellent job on the first one?

Oh gosh, you are so right, and I cannot even come up with a humorous rejoinder. There are 8 years between the two recordings, not 10+. Sorry about that, but, in Martin's age it is still a considerable period to deepen one's understanding.

Yes, I also would be most interested to hear what you think in that comparison. I think the new recording is so good that it will crush the old one, DSD or not. Let's hear what you think.

No, completely different recording teams.

Best - Robert

Apologies for derailing this thread, but this seems to be "open season" on Bissie, so thus!

I have been hugely enjoying the chamber music of Kalevi Aho which you have issued on SACD (ha! still on topic.) I am curious as to whether you can disclose your future contemporary music plans for high resolution release.

Yrs,
David

P.S.: Also, when can we hope for more Allan Pettersson? Many thanks!

Can we look forward to a Rachmaninov Trio Op.9 at some point? I can imagine that Yevgeny Sudbin, Alexander Chaushian, and Vadim Gluzman could join forces for a definitive version.

and pair that with the Tchaikovsky trio

Uncut, I don't think both would fit, but if so, then absolutely go for it! (Or price it at two-for-one.)

Well, if one cannot take a few punches now and again, this is very definitely the wrong profession. By and large, I am enjoying this, so fire away.

To answer:

2016 Brett Dean has woken much less interest that I would have thought, and with Frank Peter Zimmermann as a soloist...

1866 We have Kalevi Aho's S15 and Double-bass Concerto in the pipeline very soon.

2052 Wagner's Ring in arrangement by Henk de Vlieger is something that noone with a surround system can be without. Out now.

2038 Pettersson 9th S. Just simply incredible!! Norrköping SO/Christian Lindberg. Includes a free 80+-min DVD with and about the Composer, subtitled in English.

2042 Martinu Cello Sonatas with Isserlis and Mustonen. Contemporary? Not really, but for some...

1779 RBCD but high-res DL: Ge Gan-ru Flute Concerto with Sharon. Out very soon.

2070 RBCD as above with CO Music by Lón Leifs

More to come, Aho Concertos for Horn and - yes - Theremin!! 2057 Melancholy, which mixes Dowland with very new Music (24/192) etc, etc.

And all this just in the very few months to come.

How about Borodin's quartets?

2042 Martinu Cello Sonatas with Isserlis and Mustonen.
Great to hear that Mr. Isserlis has recorded these works again! (The sound Hyperion gave him didn't match the standard of his playing.) Is it too much to hope that you've included the Variations on a Slovak Folk Song?
