Granted, I have very modest equipment... a cheap panasonic HT receiver that came with free speakers (the sub of which isn't even active, but passive), and even crappier cables.

But anyway, I spun up my War of The Worlds disc... Very enjoyable. Everything seems a bit flappy in that there seems to be little bass in there until it's REALLY called for... but I blame that on a probably less than ideal situated sub than anything else. But on the other hand, there's a lot more detail and transparency than I'm used to.

Shame I don't really know much about or have any interest in classical, otherwise I'd be all over this stuff!

There are some jazz titles that are quite good, and some old pop remasters that sound good as well.

To find the good ones, click on reviews then the select the genre you want and look for the ones with 4 or 5 stars and read the reviews posted by members of this forum.

Another helpful option is the 'top recommendations' link located at the bottom of the page.

hi trouble75 - if you like elton john, many of his classic early albums have been remastered on SACD multichannel. they're excellent.

also some bob dylan classics - but be careful if it's multichannel you want, some are just SACD stereo, like all the rolling stones SACD remasters (unfortunately!).

a large chunk of the genesis back catalogue is to be released this year on SACD multichannel. pink floyd's dark side of the moon is available too.

can you play DVD-audios? a lot of good multichannel rock stuff there, including all the doors studio albums, and a whole chunk of talking heads.

all the above are superb releases in my opinion.

happy listening! multichannel technology is as far as i'm concerned the best innovation in sound-carrying technology in my nearly 40 years of record collecting.

P.S. why not try a BIT of classical? we all started somewhere....
