Yes...reading the thread I see only a few mentions of multi-channel.
I seem to be in the minoritry perhaps, but i just wanted to add
what I have always said in relation to anyone asking about SACD...Multi-channel
in SACD makes a huge difference to the listening experience. I am not putting
2 channel stereo down...but discrete MC has made a big difference for me in Jazz and
pop(I mean Depeche Mode for example). And you only need the simplest of
equipment to enjoy it. My preference for MC is getting to the point where
I wish Zeus would post on the recent additions, recommendations etc page,
whether or not the SACD is MC or stereo.

For the new additions, Zeus & others are often not aware if these releases are MCH or not until a physical copy arrives (some companies are not as illuminating about their release material as others) so it takes a little while before someone can let Zeus know about the layers contained on a disc.

I agree with everything else though 100%!

Of course, if you click on 'Titles' above, instead of using 'Recent additions', you get an overview of recent additions (in reverse chronological order) with more details, including (as far as information is available) whether it's multichannel, hybrid, DSD, etc.

Yes I see that...thanks. But it would be nice to get whole pages of
recommendations w/pictures of the CD and a little annotation "MC" for
those SACDs that are. I often get excited about an album on the recent
additions page, for example, only to find that it is in stereo SACD format.

Hi

After hearing the wonders of my friend's Roxy Music Avalon SACD over the standard CD, I'm looking at purchasing a Marantz SACD to pair/replace my Cambridge Audio 640C v2 cd player.

I have the standard Marantz PM7001 amp. Given it is the non tuned version would I be wasting my time spending the extra £200 on the SA7001KI or would I still hear an improvement ?

Would have been nice to have some thoughts for a prospective user of SACD...

but I've gone for the SA7001KI now anyway

Will post here with my verdict compared to my CD

I too have the Depeche Mode SACD/DVD's.

I heard the SACD of Violator isn't remarkable.

How does the 5.1 Surround fair on the Depeche releases to that on other DVD's ?

If I could get around the issue of all the wires for the speakers it would be something else I'd like to look at.

Anyone know if there any wireless 5.1 speakers out there other than Bose cubes ?

How could one presume to achieve passable sound with these Bose things? Kind of defeats the purpose of the thread, I would think.

Regarding this post by Myrantz...

"I heard the NAD M55 (or whatever) and unfortunately conditions and related equipment were not ideal. Nor was I impressed with having to use the OSD to change layers and formats."

I've had the NAD M55 for 9 months now. It's a pretty darn good machine. Just to clarify, you do not need to use the OSD to change layers and formats. It is very easy to do this without the OSD once you know what to do. I'll admit, it isn't intuitive, but I only have to use the OSD for DVD-Audio titles (which is VERY annoying).

My only complaint about this player thus far is that there is no option to default to the MCH version (if one exists on the disc). As I tend to prefer MCH, this means I have to wait until the darn thing finally loads the Stereo SACD track and starts playing before I can change to the MCH tracks.
