So why do you still go to the expense of manufacturing mch SACD ?
This was discussed here quite a lot a couple years ago when NativeDSD was just starting. Perhaps you missed it or forgot about it.

If 95% of SACD buyers do indeed play the CD layer then this tells me that the real market for Channel Hirez offerings amounts to only 5% of total sales, by going downloads only and dropping SACD’s Channel will limit its sale to 5% of its potential market.
Am I missing something in this analogy?

I suppose they could issue CDs and DSD downloads of the albums. That would reduce their production costs, by dropping SACD, using this analogy.

There will well be a moment when a decision must be made. I feel an obligation to pressing SACDs since I was one of the first back in February 2001. Right now Channel has been publicly announcing that first runs will be SACD, but if the sales slow down but a pressing is needed - (usually for the artists who sell at concerts) then we would only press the CD pcm.

This approach seems eminently reasonable to me. I hope it means that Channel can continue to press new releases in this format for as long as possible.
Glad to see you get the Gramophone award. Richly deserved.

Indeed.
I would still like to have more > 64fs .dff/.dsf multi-channel titles on offer at Native DSD site, however.
This customer simply doesn't have more storage space available for physical audio media, any longer.
