There's yet another, cheaper model coming around the same time: UD5005.

Wow, yet another SACD player for me to consider. Now I am wondering why I should buy a stand alone player like this one instead of the OPPO BDP83 or the new Denon DBP-1911UD?

Looks like Sony is taking SACD mainstream ... at least for anyone seeking to buy any kind of standalone CD player. If you check out their site:

... it seems Sony don't have ANY standalone CD-only players available for sale anymore --> everything is SACD now! And at £179, seems pretty approachable too.

The Sony spec page says: "SACD Multichannel Out YES" but there is no connector shown that will convey it. Manuals are, so far, only in Finnish and Danish.

Sony did mention "Please be aware that the features/specifications can differ from country to country."

Anyway, the Danish manual states on page 5: "You cannot play SACD's area with more channels."
BTW, it also says here the optical and coaxial digital connection output no sound when playing (the stereo area of) an SACD or DSD Disc.
