Well, in my higher end system, my older BDP~93 sounded better than the SONY but that's another story altogether.

Gerald (Disbeliever) is always castigating me for my use of higher end cables, including HDMI. Well, in my particular system, one can readily hear (and in the case of video SEE) a difference.

Would you please list your components?

Ralph (Rammiepie) I have always said the Sony XA5400ES sounds best when connected via HDMI to the matching Sony AVR STR-DA5400ES (UK version with HATS) much better, especially the treble than the overated Oppo 93/103. only a £6 Silver Crest HDMI cable is required which sounds just as good if not better than a £100 Chord Active. Looking at your System list I assume your listening room must be vey very LARGE.

"Proving that stereo separates can still pack a host of functionality into a single chassis, Marantz’s SA8005 SACD player is so much more than a simple ‘disc spinner’. Not only does it breathe new life into plain vanilla CD but its full complement of digital inputs, including DSD-compatible USB, ensures the SA8005 can form the hub of a cutting-edge computer-based music system. This player/DAC is ideally partnered by the PM8005..."
