Folks, I'll be in Hong Kong next week. I recall there were a couple of decent CD shops in Mongkok, but can someone please remind me where they are? Better yet, if someone could suggest other great music shops, I would really appreciate it - price does matter, for what it's worth, and if any of you all know of any used CD shops, so much the better.

As always, thanks!

Start with this old thread

Prelude has moved from Miramar to Central (3/f, 9 Chiu Lung Street)

My favourite SACD stores on HK Island (where I normally shop) after Prelude are:

1) Disc Plus in IFC Mall (above the Airport Express station)

2) Rock Gallery in Tai Yau Building on Johnston Road

3) HK Records in Pacific Place

HMV is back in Central, but is generally too expensive and has little choice

Thanks - I'll check them out. Where, again, are those other CD shops in Mongkok? I think near the Mongkok station, no?

Yes, they are all close to Mongkok MTR station.

just checked out HK records at Pac Place. Nice to be in a real record store but the prices are much higher than in the United States. Will be heading to Mong Kok a bit later to check out the three shops near the MTR ...

True, although there is no sales tax to add here and regulars can get 8% off

Go into a news agent and look for a Hi-Fi Magazine. I did that to find Hi-Fi shops. It may also help to find music shops. Even if it does not the staff at one of the local Hi-Fi shops is sure to help.

Another option is just to browse Aplui Street - the eastern end from memory. Also I think it is on the Mong Kok line, so easy to get to. Its absolutely stuffed with hi-fi and music gear.

I hope it is not too late yet, but I can recommend The CD Warehouse in Langham Place Shopping Mall (12th floor), which I have visited already several times. This is quite good and has some audiophile discs in stock, too.

I have been recommended The Win Win Shop by one of my favorite record dealers in Singapore, but have not been there yet.

In general audiophile discs in Hong Kong are fairly expensive, I usually buy them cheaper in Singapore.
