I am curious about the numbers. As it stands I am some where in the low 200 SACD disc range.

I only have some 20 SACDs so far. There are still not enough interesting new recordings or transfers from old analouge gems to tempt me . The recent Beeethoven Karajan set being an exception. And they are also mostly so expensive that I still prefer to buy a lot of second hand LPs instead.Last weekend I bought no less than FOURTEEN classical LPs in mint condition for the same price as ONE SACD!!! The sound quality (not to mention the interpretations) on many old LPs is IMHO at least as good as most SACDs, and often better, so why waste my money? AS Good as I feel SACD certainly is over RBCD
I would buy more SACDs, A: If they were a lot cheaper B: if there where more really good, classical SACDs released.

Exactly 106 at the moment, and have sold another ten or eleven.

Of the current 106, 103 are classical, plus 1 soundtrack, 1 celtic and 1 medieval.

Another eight on order, all classical.

I meanwhile have a little more than 200 SACDs. The share of classical music is 90%.

I have a dozen or so,a mixture from classical to punk...My vinyl eclipses the pioneer 747 on good vinyl and DGG isnt included in that bracket..TOTALLY agree re comments about cost of lps against sacd s even if you could get what you want...I expect to put some of my vinyl onto DVDA when I get the chance as ive 4000 plus items ., purpose to remove unwanted works and I can get at least 2 or three lps onto one digital disc..Long term Ill probabl finish up buying more vinyl.Dave

I have about 100, 50% classical and the remainder split between jazz, classic rock, country/bluegrass, etc. I have more than 10X that number in CD's and 2X that number of LP's. On the margin, I am buying 80% SACD's, 20%'s CD's and no LP's. The best LP's sound wonderful, but they have extreme limitations - short playing times, inner groove distortion, fragility of the medium itself and lack of portability. Most of the LP's issued in the days when vinyl ruled were pretty bad - we actually get better quality control now on LP. But the real reason behind my own conversion to SACD was for MC sound - it is ironic that I currently don't have a MC setup due to a move I had to make a few months ago.

I've got 64 at present, about 85% of them classical, 10% jazz, one or two film soundtracks and the rest pop/rock.

I definitely intend getting more in the near future.

I have exactly 1 (one!) SACD after buying my player last month. The record labels' target demographic of SACD buyer is obviously the 40+ crowd as seen in the wealth of titles buy such universally-panned crapburgers as Toto, Sting, Air Supply, etc. These releases may please the soccer-moms out there, but if Sony and their cohorts want this format to take-off then they'll deliver SACD releases of true sonic achievement such as the Velvet Underground's "White Light, White Heat", the forthcoming Beach Boys' "Smile", Wilco's "Summerteeth", Spiritualized's "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space" and many more titles relevent to contemporary popular music.

As tempting as it is, I refuse to buy Dylan and Stones SACD albums I already own on other formats until the labels show they are committed to this format. The audiophile geeks they're courting are not going to single-handedly launch a new format, and it's time the labels understand this. How about a few SACD titles that will showcase the capabilities of the format to a wider audience?

These corporate douche-bags are ruining a beautiful format! I wonder, why did CD take-off so much quicker?

Can't say I agree with you- but hey that's life!

I am 22 and buy lots of SACD's at the rate I am going I will have 300+ by the end of the year. I like the diversity of the title's coming out- are there titles I wish would come out? absolutely but I am not going to sit home and be bitter about it- I have better things to do with my time..... Speaking of which I am going to go listen to some music!
