Performance: 11
Sound Quality: 11

Price for a two disc 180g pressing: $840 (limited to 300 copies)

IMHO, would be better served as a single layered SHM~SACD which is now approximately $34(US)

Sounds like a missed opportunity, at least to me!

Even though I'm Mahlered~Out......would be a MUST PURCHASE (as a SHM~SACD).....but not for $840...on Vinyl..... with three side changes.

it's utterly ridiculous, of course.
I'd rather wait a little longer for the new Fischer M9 from Channel Classics

But you have to admit, fausto, as an historical artifact, it would be one for the record (no pun intended) books!

I'm sure all 300 copies will sell out rather expeditiously for $252,000.

nah, I'm not a fan of Barbirolli.

You're probably right they will sell out soon. The vinyl "audiophiles" are weird people.

I can (not) imagine buying a set, discovering an unbearable fault on one record and being advised there isn't a replacement. If I'd bought the pair, I'd be stuck with half of the recording and a whole lot of anger lol.

Or you can get EMI's 24/96 transfer at its native resolution from HDTracks for $18, less if they're having a sale...

The price for the reissue is just ridiculous. Music Matters, which to my opinion is currently doing an excellent job reissuing Blue Note LPs prices them at under 50 dollars. You can probably find a used LP copy of the recording on Classics for Pleasure for 5 euros...

And the original "His Masters Voice - EMI" record is NOT genuinely reproduced since they can't use the His Masters Voice trademark for the LP labels nor on the jackets. Mr. Fremer is mostly impressed with this company's ability to reproduce the "fold-over" label of the HMV '60's original (where the laminated front cover folds over the back cover of the sleeve).
