I bought it as a 24/96 download and can recommend it. At first I was reluctant to buy yet another recording of the 4 seasons, but I decided to trust BIS as they always deliver very good sound quality, and I generally like their artistic choices. I have been very pleased with it. The playing is very good: the 4 Seasons do not sound tired at all. They are very lively, but they do not sound crazy either as unfortunately sometimes the case with recent recordings that desperately try to stand out from the crowd.

Is this played on modern instruments with appropriate vibrato? I have a soft spot for the Four Seasons recording on BIS 275 (RBCD) with Nils-Erik Sparf as soloist. That one's been my standard for years.

I have the earlier recording you refer to on LP and it used to be a favourite for me too. I can't compare the two right now,but don't expect warm vibrato rich soft warm string sound from this one. It is more of an x-ray, very close and super detailed take sometimes with the feeling of being right in there among the players.
But without the warmth of both the Nils Erik Sparf version or any other analogue recording of the work I own.
This certainly is not Vivaldi as Muzak or soft background hotel lobby music.
It is a very intensive and exciting performance that sounds very fresh and anything but routine.
But a bit "steely" sq wise with very close miking of non vibrato Strad and Guanieri strings.
The movement that is most impressive at least via my Hugo and HD 800 headphones is the last: Winter.
Never before has it sounded so chilling and frosty than in this recording.
One can almost feel the snowflakes whirling around in the cold winter air.
Superbly played.
