Caveat to potential buyers: this is a remaster of the original UK album, meaning that the single "Virginia Plain" is missing (it was featured on the first US release, and can also be found on the regular redbooks).
Haven't listened yet.

That's the best song on the album. Someone needs to fix the track listing here on sa-cd.net
I bought Country Life but I think that will do it. Pass on the others.

Wonder if the upcoming Steve Wilson ROXY Music 5.1 remasters will include that 'missing cut....' My guess, that and probably more bonus cuts. But am hoping it will be sold independently of the box set.

btw, whether "Virginia Plain" is "the best song on the album" (Cupboy) is arguable. Every track on that debut is the best song on the album! It's stunning from beginning to end, as is For your pleasure, and Stranded.

I've been listening to Prince since the late 70s and still am a huge fan. He, Rick James and others gave us a lot of delicious punk funk. Along with Purple Rain, I would love to have Controversy, 1999 and... You name it.
Prince in 5.1 should be a no brainer.

The ONLY problem with MOST concert BD~Vs is all you get in the surrounds is the audience interaction and ambience. If you want the concert only, w/o the deluxe treatment, it's also available from CDJapan ($40US).
I want my Prince in Technicolor 5.1 surround with ALL the bells and whistles
Accept NO substitutes.
Would love to hear a review of the Prince BD~V....if it IS discreet, then I'd say Go For It!

Hence... I said it SHOULD be a no brainer.
But...as you so correctly point out, a lot of these 5.1 mixes of concerts simply put some audience noise in the rear channels. We discussed this with Silverline's In the Front Row series.
And... We already have a guinea pig over on amazon. One reviewer gave it only 2 stars and posted this in January 2015... "Disappointing remastering from both a picture and sound quality stand point."
So, unless we hear otherwise, it looks like we'll just have to keep dreaming about being surrounded in the purple rain, Ralphie.
