I hope when more posters, including myself, receive the new SHM reissues from Japan that they'll comment on their own personal experiences with these discs.

I just found it odd that reviewer analogue received 5 bad apples in his SHM~SACD reissue batch!

Does anyone know how to contact the mysterious Analogue? He/she has not posted info about their system and I'm curious about what equipment Analogue is listening to. Also what the 4 other sub-standard reissues are.

I too find it hard to imagine Universal Japan tampering with their original masters for these reissues, and I think one can count out any change in the SHM materials and production process.

....everyone will be having fun, fun fun except the horse with No surround that'll be riding off into the sunset bound for a glue factory.

Actually, the AF stereo SACD remaster of America IS spectacular and to my knowledge, America never had a QUAD mix so it would be one of those labors of love from scratch.

But have you ever tried to figure out the lyrics to A Horse With No Name.............somebody was trippin' their brains out in that desert.

Agreed! AF gave us a solid 2-ch reissue of America. No complaints with that.

A glue factory!? Poor little horsey! Where is a Mch horse whisperer when you need one?

A little TLC never hurt anyone...http://www.petsloving.com/tiny-little-horsey-is-so-adorable/

Someone once said... There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it.

And...I love Richard Jeni's joke, "You're in the desert, you got nothing else to do. Name the freakin' horse!"

Analogue posted a review today on this site regarding the reissued SHM~SACD of the Rolling Stones' "Goats Head Soup" and according to his review, he feels that these are NOT the original full priced DSD masters originally released.

Besides being packaged in RBCD cases (not the mini LP replicas), he feels that Universal has "tampered" with the original sonics resulting in an unpleasant sonic experience.

Since I have NOT received my 7 SHM~SACD reissues from CDJapan, as yet, I was wondering if any other posters have experienced any sonic degradation with these reissued SHM~SACDs?

The reason I bring this up: Analogue is usually spot on with his reviews...and he also indicated that the other SHM~SACD reissues he received were also not up to par, as well.

I received Sticky Fingers, Some Girls, and Tatoo You, along with 11 other SHM SACD November reissues. They all sound great to me.

'Tis better, Brett, than a Horse with no Mane!

BTW, hang onto your DVD~A 5.1 of Pet Sounds as there will be NO more multichannel Beach Boy remixes in the forseeable future.

GREAT news, Mark. Still haven't received my 7 SHM~SACD reissues but thank the stars you are satisfied with yours.

In fact, I have so many impending SHM~SACDs, BD~Vs and SACDs, I have NO idea where I'm going to get the time to listen to them.......perhaps as background accompaniment when I'm writing out Christmas Cards!

Yes, I understand that problem. My wife demanded that we purchase a CD shelf, she picked an apothecary CD desk, you know a piece of furniture to hold CD's, I think it holds a thousand or so but doesn't look like it does, actually pretty cool looking, not mt choice but if it keeps her happy..............

I am certainly not at your 10K level but in a way hope I don't get there either.

If we lived in same town we could listen together but that can wait.

You're a very fortunate man, Mark, to have a spouse who supports your hobby.

As for my 10K RBCD collection: After learning about DR ratings, a mixed blessing, as a lot of them are early pressings (pressed in Germany/Japan) and have pretty decent scores compared to the so~called remastered versions which suffer from the "loudness wars."

And at the rate you're going, to borrow a line from Jaws........you're going to need a bigger...........

And with those Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.........I REALLY overindulged. And don't forget, I have a HUGE BD~V and DVD collection, as well!

And with 4K around the corner.........yecch!

And IF we lived in the same town, we'd be fighting over the "sweet spot," because there is only ONE sweet spot in a listening environment......correct?

Hi guys and gals if applicable.

I've listened to my 5 new shm sacds over and over again and I have no doubt Universal Japan screwed us. All I need do is listen to my first generation Shm Sacds and then put in my new sacds......the difference is startling. What the heck were they thinking?? That we wouldn't figure it out??? They should be ashamed of themselves for doing such a disservice to the loyal fans. And with regards to Shm Sacds I have koo koo for Coco puffs about therm.

If a listener cannot hear the difference I would expect it to be because of their particular set up. I am a traditionalist........rather uncompromising. I am prudish and have spent years setting up my system which is stereo........and totally analogue in every way. No fancy receivers.....just plain pre-amp, power supplies, amps and analogue cables. My system is very revealing and somewhat potent..and very life-like.
If something is amiss......be assured I will hear it. If there is compression of treble boosts I can hear it right away. Its just that some set ups disguise these problems by filtering them out or pushing them aside.

So I can readily hear I got screwed.

I am still so miffed.

Now I cannot speak to any new releases.....only the previous transfers that were available and are now out of print until November of this year.

I will review the remaining trash I received from Universal as time permits. And that's exactly what it is..trash.

Recently I bought some others original first generation Shm Sacds and they are simply out of this world so its not my system.

To all of you.....take it easy or any way you can get it.

Not to cheery today,
Analogue

Yet others think the new "reissued' ones are fine. So why doesn't someone contact/write Universal directly and ask what gives?

Please post the titles and a description of the difference you hear. The discussion here is all over the place.
