If you preferred the multichannel version of Layla to the SHM~SACD, perhaps you should be patient, Brett, and see what Analogue Productions accomplishes with their mch SACD remasters of the Beach Boy Catalog.

So far, info is sketchy, at best. Will they be 3 channel or 4.0? I, for one, had NO problem with the DVD~A 5.1 of Pet Sounds although it's received a VERY bad rap over the years. Copies are available rather inexpensively from the various Amazons if you're willing to take a chance.

God only knows......I have two copies!

Yes, I've also read negative reviews of the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" DVD-A, but have always thought it sounds great on my Arcam DV137.

I have two of the Beach Boys SHM-SACDs on their way to me from CD Japan. I hope I'll be pleased with them from an AQ "point of view", but I'm luckily that I've yet to be disappointed by any of the SHM-SACDs I've bought. Admittedly, I don't have that many though.

If information on the multi-channel audio Beach Boys albums was a bit more concrete, I might have waited. I'd prefer these albums on hybrid SACD with multi-channel audio option - but let's see. These are not re-issues though, are they - so don't fall into the category that's been negatively reviewed.

The Beach Boys: Pet Sounds is perfectly serviceable.

Play it again, Rammie!

I already have the pleasure of owning the Pet Sounds DVDA. Yesterday I picked up 4 other DVDAs: America - Homecoming, Steely Dan - everything must go, Faith Hill - Cry, and Andy Jackson - signal to noise. All have fabulous surround mixes. They make 5.1 sound so nice & easy.

It's really is a pity AF's America SACD doesn't include a 5.1 mix... A Horse With No Surround.

Yep, I believe I'll be waiting for AP's Beach Boys. Then everybody'd be Surfin' 4.0 or...having FUN, FUN, FUN 3.0. :-D

Yes, I was aware of this SACD, but as I've owned the DVD-A for many years - and that it has 3 audio options, this disc wouldn't be of any interest to me.

I'm very pleased with my "Pet Sounds" DVD-A.

Maybe the material the discs are made of is cheaper and that makes the sound worse?

Righto, Brett....everyone will be having fun, fun fun except the horse with No surround that'll be riding off into the sunset bound for a glue factory.

Actually, the AF stereo SACD remaster of America IS spectacular and to my knowledge, America never had a QUAD mix so it would be one of those labors of love from scratch.

But have you ever tried to figure out the lyrics to A Horse With No Name.............somebody was trippin' their brains out in that desert.

I hope when more posters, including myself, receive the new SHM reissues from Japan that they'll comment on their own personal experiences with these discs.

I just found it odd that reviewer analogue received 5 bad apples in his SHM~SACD reissue batch!

Can't be for sure but looks like the problem is just the older SACD re-issues not the new releases.

You're lucky if it's released before 2016.
