SWITCH certainly does sound good. It's a bit eerie how much J.D. Fortune sounds like Michael Hutchence, but I like the tunes. It's almost as if they never stopped...

Actually, Ralphie's probably got it already... JOSHONE - NARROW PATH (Dualdisc). The 5.1 mix is pretty good with some discrete stuff going on in the surrounds.

Brett, watch the video on Switch and you'll gain a new appreciation for J.D. Fortune....a righteous dude!

I do have Josh One but haven't played it in awhile.

Brett, If at first you don't succeed, try, try, AGAIN!

Just scored tickets for Tears for Fears on September 28th!

Everybody wants to rule the world........

At MTV's Video Awards, Kanye West announced he's running for President in 2020! As one CNN reporter surmised.......if elected, Kim Kardashian would be the first First Lady who has a sex tape!

The "West" Wing will never be quite the same again. KYAA,* Kanye!

{*Japanese for YIKES}!

I would also like to comment on the passing of Horror Movie legend Wes Craven https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CNwMbkPUYAQnYJI.jpg:medium (Last House On The Left, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, etc). I had an occasion to meet Wes when I took a film course at SUNY, Purchase where we had a private screening of the 1972 original Last House On The Left. Strange Dude......but then, who isn't nowadays. http://www.fabpress.com/images/source/FAB-Press/FAB014.jpg Wes died August 31st of Brain Cancer at the age of 76. RIP, Wesley.....the Nightmare's over!

A dissenting opinion of Roger Water's Amused to Death: Frankly, I was BORED to death, After the interminable three year wait for this supposed Water's 'magnum opus (?)' to reach fruition, I spun it on my main system last night and was prepared to be WOWED. Instead I was BOW~WOWED to death by sound effects of barking dogs and very little in the way of substance.

I have been a huge Pink Floyd Fan since the late 60's and do love Meddle, Saucerful of Secrets and Ummagumma and of course their spate of classics commencing with Dark Side but to be subjected to Amused to Death was not my idea of anything resembling classic PF (even though it was SOLO Waters).

In my mind, The Wall will always be special and indicative of Water's true talents.

As far as Sound Quality and James Guthrie 5.1 remix: It was stunning in every respect. Perhaps I'll spin the Q~encoded 2.0 tonight which I understand is equally stunning.

Maybe it'll have a more sobering effect on my opinion....but for now..........proceed with caution.

Far too often, Rock Stars' ultimate celebrity coasts on their output from bygone years and when they attempt to recapture that spark in a more contemporary milieu, the results are, at best, MIXED.

I was also not a fan of PF's Swan Song (sans Waters) The Endless River. I found it tedious and not at all indicative of PF's past triumps. I actually much preferred the Division Bell.

I do look forward to James Guthrie's 5.1 remix of The Wall and even though it somewhat divided the members of PF as it WAS Water's show.....in the ensuing years it is, IMHO, one of Water's finest and most enduring moments....and continues to be so to this day!

Hi Ralph,

I have a long history (over 20 years) with Amused to Death so I have a bias to what I think is a great work from Roger Waters that hit the pulse of humanity and remains relevant today (perhaps even more so).

Sure there was a lot of hype on this release that goes back at least 2 1/2 years. But I always keep in mind how many releases do we actually see from older works where the effort is made to remix and upgrade to multi-channel with high quality audio in mind.

As for opinions on Pink Floyd's Endless River, I consider it to be much superior to the Division Bell which I found to be a lesser work. But that is what opinions are all about.

Perhaps with additional listening, you may uncover the gem of Amused to Death (or perhaps not).

I know Ricks review was on the BD~A of Amused. I just got my 5.1 SACD in today's mail. I am looking forward to the SACD listen. I am sure it won't be a "I listen to it all the time" disc, but I am still anticipating good things.

I do listen to Foghat's MOFI Hybrid SACD stereo all the time.

David Gilmore received writing credit on The Wall's Comfortable Numb, probably the second most played song from the album and one of my favorite's. It's yet another sad tale of they were much stronger together than apart. But I would also add that Gilmore's albums, both PF and solo, has been more to my liking than Waters. And I really do like Waters and saw him perform the complete Dark Side of the Moon at the Hollywood Bowl several years ago and it was magic.

As I alluded to in my post, Rick, I don't have a history with Amused to Death and after all the hype, I went into it stone cold and probably expected an instant 'classic' to pop out of my speakers.

I will give it another spin and perhaps in time will gain an appreciation of Water's work.

In all fairness, I was NOT awed by Sergeant Pepper when I first heard it (probably because of the poor quality 3 3/4 ips pre~recorded Reel I auditioned it on) having grown up on Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald prior to experiencing the Beatle's opus, so there is hope that after repeated listening, that Amused to Death might have the same positive effect on me.

I, of course, consider Sergeant Pepper to be the classic that it is now (especially in superior 24/44.1 sound versus the old 3 3/4 ips travesty).

Time heals ALL! And Rick, thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts. Your input means a lot!

It's a shame that you were so disappointed with Amused to Death, Ralph. But, I'm a little surprised to hear that you had such high expectations...especially since you are already familiar with post-Wall Floyd. I went through all that when I first heard The Final Cut. It was already clear that something had changed. And their solo work just confirmed that. Then, I stopped comparing their new material to the heydays of the 70s. Now I just take each album for what it is and I'm able to get into them a lot more.

I agree with Rick. Endless River has left a more lasting impression on me. I play it often.
