IMHO, unremarkable.

So, compared to the Pentatone, which one is more unremarkable?

Should we hope for Robert to do one then?

Is the spelling on the cover an indication of....something?
Surely it should be:
Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade

The TSO site pages have the correct spelling,

http://www.roythomson.com/eventdetail/1245

as well as the concert review.

Or,
could it be the French spelling? as in:
Shéhérazade (Ravel)

Or,
Chandos just wants to be different.
Sheherazade (Scheherazade; Russian: (Cyrillic text won't show here), Shekherazada in transliteration)

Ordered mine too, price is very good indeed. Hopefully sound quality in MCh will match expectations.

In light of the pricing, I think it's just a good time to preorder now. Amazon UK will charge us less VAT for shipping to Singapore.

Well, the spelling is actually alright.

With whom? That is the real issue, not the recording team.

BIS released a Sheherazade with the Malaysian Orchestra conducted by Kees Bakels in ~2003 (coupled with the Antar symphony on BIS 1377). David Hurwitz rated the Antar performance as the best on record while giving high marks for the Sheherezade performance though saying that it does not compete with the best available (lots of competition after all). The sonic rating for the RBCD was 10. I have this disc and it is indeed very good. I would not expect BIS to bring another Sheherezade to market so soon but stranger things have happened in the world of classical recordings.

I have that one too, coupled with all the rest of the Rimsky in a 4 box set.

Has anyone here heard the Jansons RCO performance of Sch. on Blu Ray? If so any comments?

I just downloaded it from Classical Shop. It advertised 24/192, but the download was 24/96. I have a support ticket in on this. In stereo, initial impression is very good sound, above average performance. The solo violin part is very nice.

Let us know what their response to your support ticket is and how long it takes to get them to respond.

Unlike what Zeus seems to think,I think that it is quite important that whenever there is false information or other problems from download sites, I think that now that SACD.net actually includes downloads too, that we are allowed to discuss problems encountered without being blocked from doing so.

One of the things that I have seen recently from some sites is a label called 2XHD which gives the false impression of offering true hi res downloads when in fact they are only upsampling earlier low res material while falsely implying by their name, that they are true hi res titles.
Chandos on the other hand as a rather good record in this respect imo.

But this time around they may actually hide the fact? that it is a native DSD recording instead of the opposite in some earlier cases, while offering it online as 24/192 that downloaded turns out to be only 24/96?

Forums like this can help us to actually get what we pay for and expect to get.

Companies themselves are not always as consumer friendly directly with customers,as when being exposed openly.

Dear all,
I think we all need to take a deep breath and think carefully before putting forward that there is nefarious intent by the folks trying to get high quality recordings out there. These people work hard in a pretty thankless job to get the material out to the customer.
WRT this title, it was recorded in 192k 24bit PCM but only SACD production masters were provided to the label. At the labels request,a new set of 192k masters were supplied only today and will be available for download in the coming days.

All the best,
