They made a pretty special video for Marooned...

Eerie video. It makes me wonder what's going on up the road from me. :-o

The view from the space station is always impressive, isn't it! At the risk of getting of topic again (and getting yelled at again ;) I can't resist posting this video of Saturn's aurora taken by Hubble. (Let's hope Hubble's mission doesn't get marooned.)

And of Jupiter... http://www.space.com/25891-jupiter-great-red-spot-shrinking-video.html

Some good news about Kepler as well... http://www.space.com/25913-nasa-kepler-telescope-new-mission.html

Anyway, Gilmour's guitar still sounds sweet. I'd really love to listen to the 5.1 mix.

For hardcore Floyd fans only, I guess.

I excitedly tried shoving my wallet through my computer screen when it was announced but that didn't work. It never works, but every time I see a Floyd or Velvets box set announced I kind of lose control. Looks like I have to do this the old-fashioned way; wait until it gets released and pick it up from my preferred independent retailer.

It's early days yet, so we'll have to wait and see if the BD-A will get a separate release. I'd like to think it would because not everybody is a dedicated fan like myself who'll grab a box set like this just on principle. But record companies are fickle beasts, so it wouldn't surprise me if they're waiting to see how well the box sells before releasing an individual BD-A, or even jumping headfirst into general release BD-A at all. Don't attempt to apply logic to that train of corporate thought, your head may implode.

Definitely keeping an eye out now for further details such as whether this is a sparkling 24/192 transfer, and clarification on the 5.1 mix, because the press release reads like it was actually done back in 1994 but shelved. Probably due to the lack of any kind of domestic format for 5.1 digital playback. I'm intrigued to hear what the story on that one is. Until then, a wonderfully atmospheric video clip for Marooned to enjoy over and over.

It was the Amazon vendor link.

Been there, done that.

This site receives no benefit from links to vendors posted on this forum. See the posting guidelines. If you want to provide more details, link instead to the information on the label or band site. This is also likely to be more reliable.

It seems like there will be a 5.1 mix DVD of Division Bell released separately. It's listed on Pink Floyd's website. Release date June 30th. £9.99

No word on a separate Blu-ray yet.

Thanks. There doesn't appear to be any mention of it being DVD-A though. I assume it's just a DVD-V with DD/dts audio. Pity if it is.

It's probably DTS/DD 5.1 but for someone who really doesn't want nor need the box set, it's fine with me. Wonder if it has a 24/96 stereo track at the very least.

Speaking of space exploration, here's a cool video from the unveiling of the new SpaceX Dragon V2 spacecraft...

That IS cool!! Loved the touch panel dash. ;)

I'll be very interested to see it take off... do its mission... and then land right back where it took off... AND be ready to do it all over again in a short time. A tall order, but you gotta dream big... He made a good comparison with commercial aviation.
