I really like the new look of the AF Mch SACDs. Thanks bmoura for sharing.

I am still concerned that they are utilizing the existing multichannel mix of Breezing. Any insight as to what went wrong in mastering the DVD~A? Unlike most Warners DVD~As, which IMHO sound excellent, Breezing left a lot to be desired. The AF multichannel hybrid SACD of Breezing also omits the two bonus tracks present on the DVD~A, namely, Shark Bite and Down Here On The Ground, the latter of which sounds excellent.

Over at QQ, there's been analysis of the Breezin 5.1 and it was discovered the Centre channel and LFE were mastered a good number of dBs lower than front and rear pairs, in equal measure, which would go some way to explaining why the old 5.1 sounded like it was recorded in a cave with heaps of excessive reverb in the rears, a hollowed-out centre image and a real lack of low-end. With the appropriate changes made (by boosting Centre and LFE) the mix suddenly falls into place and it really is rather good.

Interesting you mention Down Here On The Ground as sounding good on the original DVD-A Ralph, as that's the only song on the disc where Centre and LFE channels were originally in proportion with the other four channels.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Adam. NOT one of my favorite DVD~As, SQ~wise. I'm sure AF will do a stellar job and SH will likewise do the same with the stereo mix from the 30ips masters.

OT, but finally saw The BD~V of Quadrophenia Live @ Wembley. Wow. Spectacular visuals and the band's coordination with the Keith Moon visuals, especially, were outstanding. I preferred the LPCM stereo mix with DSP employed. The 5.1 tracks had NO rear envelopment and, as usual, the DTS track did sound better than the Dolby true HD track (a Universal thing, I'm finding out as on other BD~As, especially Classical, the Dolby True HD has no such anomaly.

No problemo! The Breezin 5.1 is transformed just by upping Centre and LFE in your pre-amp or player (by as much as 50%, those channels are significantly lowered compared to the other 4) give it a try when you get the chance rammie!

The Dolby True thing on Universal's Blu-ray's whether BD-A or BD-V is very odd, I encounter it all the time now.

This is excellent news WRT "Breezin'" 5.1, as reconfiguring LFE and centre channels is a major issue on my system. With that in my library, I can wait for years for "Aja" and the JT SA-CD box set. : )

BTW, seems as though someone has a vendetta against DTS HD Master Audio codec. I wonder why?

Noo! DTS HD MA isn't at fault on these Blu-ray's, it's the Dolby True that's all to cock!

What an amazing first release....NOT !! If this is an idea of what to expect, then I can't see that i'll be parting with any money, for further releases ??
A totally uninspiring first release....but nothing I didn't expect !

Regarding Super Session, as far as I'm concerned it's one of the greatest albums ever made, and if you disagree... you've either never heard it or you don't listen to blues rock.
Just because it's not something that appeals to you doesn't mean its an "uninspiring" release. This will make a lot of folks like me very happy.
