Hi all!

Since a few months I have been listening to SACD recordings at my friends' place. I am incredibly amazed with the experience. Now I am doing research about equipment and new releases.

Is anyone aware of the release of Bruckner's 7th Symphony (Ivan Fischer / Budapest Festival Orchestra)?? I cannot wait to listen to it!

And also: Can anyone advice me on which SACD-player I should (or shouldn't) buy?

Cheers, Steven

Welcome Steven.

Without a specified price point, the range of available SACD capable players are pretty diverse in both cost and performance.

Also, stereo or multichannel?

Do you need Blu Ray Audio/Video capability?

Hi Rammiepie,
Thanks for your reply!
Stereo would be most suitable for me.
Prices range, well, if possible, around $1000.
No need for blu-ray..
Thanks again,
Steven

Thursday, May 1, both as SACD, and downloads on the Channel Classics and nativedsd.com sites.

You do realise that Steven Murray and Jared are one and the same. Or maybe you're in on the game. Does anyone think I don't track these things?

I wouldn't post much to this thread as it's likely to disappear soon.

Ah, pluggers on the site. Perhaps because the disc isn't advertised anyhwere else? (well, except on his own site)

I didn't, but after looking into your assertion, I found that Steven Murray, and Jared are not one in the same. However, the originating facility IP address is Channel Classics.

Steven, as it turns out, is a new ambitious Channel employee this week, replacing Rikkert, who recently left. That position, among other duties, is management of social media relations and distribution support for Channel Classics. It was this young person's thought, however erroneous, that the sacd.net forum was influential in the music recording social media circles, and would be beneficial in announcing the release of the Bruckner 7.

BTW, being new to the recording business, Steven's request for SACD player recommendations is genuine and sincere, as is the budget.

A bit of disclosure wouldn't have hurt here. We all know that Jared does very fine work and new releases with Ivan are eagerly anticipated. Maybe Steven's new boss can put him to work in keeping this site up to date with releases. Disguised plugs on this forum (no matter how genuine) aren't the way to do it.

Stephen,

have long wanted to ask why JJ Milo's "reviews" are tolerated. They all involve a four or five sentence summarizing/quoting the cd booklet plus a sentence saying how wonderful the artist and performances are. Same format and similar content time after time. They are nothing more than plugs and I have seen them used as such by various record companies on vendor sites. I'm convinced he is paid for this form of advertising material and that it shouldn't have a home here. If I'm wrong I'll eat humble pie. Cheers, paul s

Do 'cheer up' Steven :)

Was thinking of replying to Ralph when thoughts formed towards you instead ; am sure rammiepie's generous soul won't mind waiting...

Let this incident pass as, importantly, Jared surely has...

As zeus said, on behalf of us all, please "work in keeping this site up to date with [Channel] releases [at /submit ]."

Tom Caulfield is, perhaps, best for advising you on a SA-CD player...

And, when time allows, update your User Details, join general discussions...

Best wishes,
Will
