Anyone have a chance yet to hear this one? Apart from the 5.1 aspect, how does it compare to the recent Light in the Attic RBCD reissue?

its a pretty loud remaster (unfortunately) of a pristine restoration with a very nice, discrete surround mix.

Here's another oldie that's been given a successful 5.1 makeover.
And to think...I almost passed this one up the other day while browsing in the music shop. The surround mix might not be as awe inspiring as Blood, Sweat & Tears: Child Is Father To The Man, but it's still great to have some more groovy surround.

Well, "you guys" twisted my arm. Had to order the BD~A 5.1 of Histoire de Melody Nelson. Heard the samples at Amazon and liked. Especially the intro bass lines.

And Child is Father To The Man IS my multichannel album of the year. Despite very tough competition, I grew up with this album and it has never sounded quite this utterly fantastic. And NOT a nanosecond* of filler. I heard it at the Meridian showroom in NYC on a $140K speaker system. OMG...Heaven IS for real. As I said, Al Kooper IS a mixing guru. He knows his "stuff." Wish he'd consider mixing for Audio Fidelity in 5.1. or even 4.0.

As Adam mentions, it's on the loud side, but not too bad. I don't feel any heavy compression. It sounds GROOVY cranked here in Tokyo! Just wish the original album was longer. Fortunately, this Bluray does include some alternative takes (...albeit those are only in 2-ch.). And the nice booklet...would be even nicer if it included English translation. Other than that... très bien!

For anyone who likes to synthesize their stereo (with PLII, DTS Neo etc) there's another HFPA Blu-ray from the first wave in France (Spring 2013) that pans out extraordinarily well in PLII (there must be a load of out of phase information in the original recording!?) and that is Pierre Henry - Messe Pour Le Temps Present.
