I expect to visit Singapore again some time soon. Any suggestions where to best look for SACDs (in the downtown area)?

I noticed online that in always dynamic Singapore, after the Specialist Shopping Centre and Capitol/City Hall branches the one at North Bridge Road has closed, but there are yet other branches at Somerset and Bugis Junction. Any other chains or stand-alone shops to check? Is That CD Shop still around?

Gramophone has ceased operation for quite a while; citing decline in business and ever increasing rental price. The shops that you mentioned were all gone. The only branch left is HMV at Marina Square (even that is really small, lacking of choices). The source for SACD for me right now is from online purchase or for some OOP Esoteric or Analogue Productions discs, you can get them from New Disc Village at Adelphi. Granted that prices may not be the most competitive compared to online shops but the shop stocks quite an extensive collection, inclusive many rare OOP discs.

Oh, by the way for a lot classical SACDs, the best source for me is actually the National Library at Esplanade. They have in catalogue of about 600-700 SACDs but many went under the radar, not catalogued as SACD (only as music recording or CD). Such a shame. Perhaps one day gonna bring up the idea to have a weekly listening session there. Similar to what Wilson Audio is doing at University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. You can find label such as Naxos, BIS, Chandos, Channel Classics and some rare Philips, Decca, Deutsche Grammophone, etc.

Let me know when you are around should you wish to meet up around town.

But do they actually have anything to play the SACD layer of the SACDs on?
I failed to find any SACD players there a couple of months ago.
Quite a nice selection of full size orchestral scores though and some music magazines too.But most of those were still at the city library in town.
But I was told they were in the process of moving everything related to music to the Espanade library.
Please do "bring up the idea"not some day,but asap.
I'd love to be able to hear some weekly listening sessions there already this autumn/winter.
But for buying SACDs in Singapore the Adelphi and New Disc Village there,is the place to go imo.

Any good classical CD stores stocking SACD's in Djakarta or Taipei?

Thanks for the feedback, both!

Thanks for the invitation. I'd love to drop by but I'm afraid my schedule outside of office hours is hopelessly crammed with plans for visiting friends and ex-colleagues. I'll bear it in mind, maybe for another time (hopefully soon)

Gidday, in Jakarta, you can head to Mangga Dua mall. You can find hi end dealers there too. However, they have really minuscule SACD selections. As in Taipei, head to Kai Fong Street.

Hi, Seventh Taylor,

"That CD Shop" is still around.
Their branches at the Marina Bay Sands and Raffles City were still open at least two months ago.
For the rest, as posted by Mekduk.
