Very nice! However. I am pained to point out that all of these Everests - and plenty more besides - have been available as 24/192 downloads for some time, and at a far cheaper price than 38USD as well.

Neverthless, there are certainly some fine titles to be savoured, here.

Who cares if they have been available as downloads (and PCM to boot)? This is an SACD site. If we wanted to throw out our money into downloads (never to see it again), we would hang out at pokies.com or computeraudiophile.com ... which would be a much more appropriate place to take your silly download crusade.

+1000

If you want to go talk about downloads, take it to your stupid thread where it's still being allowed to talk about (which is beyond me).

Now it's too bad that these are not being released as 3 channel SACDs.

Such bile and intolerance. And, coo, touchy....

...merely pointing out facts*. But I know you don't much like THEM.

Some folk really are childishly knee-jerk disposed to ban anything they don't like. And still seem to regard the medium - SACD, download, vinyl or 8-track cartridge - as actually more important than the music.

Fortunately, 435 posts and 5000 hits in 10 days don't seem to agree with you.

Anyway, why not take this up with god? Or would you like to cut out the middle man and set the rules yourself now? I'm sure you are justifiably disgusted at other folk discussing things you don't like, and have only have the very best of intentions in censoring free debate to meet your personal preconceptions and value judgments.

* like you could buy these recordings right now- and a shedload more Everests - for half the price of these archetypally over-priced Japanese SACDs.

Then take it there. I couldn't care less what you talk about there (for as long as it's tolerated) and as for talking about banning people or topics, you should be the one to talk.

Agreed. I wonder how the remastering was done? If minimalist to DSD, these may indeed sound better than 24/192 downloads - if you have golden ears and a massively high-end playback system. For most humans with finite budgets, though, forget it.

Anyway, we should all rejoice at classic analogue recordings like these becoming available in SACD AND download.

By the way, sacdhunter, do you know who is releasing these on SACD? I quite fancy the Shostakovich/Prokofiev.

Still touchy. And put your facts where your mouth is. When have I ever instigated the banning of topics or people?

By the way, why don't we take this over to the download thread? That is, if you're not scared that your karma might be permanently damaged by appearing there or being even peripherally involved in a music dissemination technique promulgated by Satan himself..

The Grofe disc is surely a "must have". Are these likely to be analogue tape to DSD transfers? Are all five discs stereo?
