Courtesy of one bit audio, three new SHM~SACD titles have been announced from Universal Japan:

Camel: Moonmadness (1976), Camel: Raindance (1977) and Caravan: For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night (1973).

According to CDJapan they are NOT even listed so keep an eye out for release dates.

Interesting, thanks for sharing this news. Their previous SHM-SACD's sound fantastic, so I have high hopes for these.

Yesterday I was wndering whether these titles were being prepared for release in the shm-sacd format because I saw that they were announced for release in the Platinum shm-cd format. So I was right in supposing so. Wow, great indeed!

In the meantime there's this reissue of Caravan's "In the land of grey and pink" that was remixed and remastered by Steven Wilson in stereo and 5.1 but note: it's not a DVD-Audio disc as it does not contain a high-resolution multichannel PCM track. It does not even contain a DTS track – the only surround sound is in Dolby Digital.

7T, I have both versions and the SHM~SACD is superior but the Steve Wilson remix in DD 5.1 is a rather effective mix. Really not horrible in DD but the 2 bonus RBCDs (#1 RBCD is original album and Disc 2 contains live concert audio) are a nice addition.

IMHO, worth the double dip.

Certainly hope Universal Japan includes the bonus tracks on all three of these SHM~SACDs as there is ample room on these single~layered "beauties" to include tracks issued on the RBCD remastered discs.

As far as I know shm-sacds allways comprise the original album only. Probably because they come with a replica of the original album cover showing the original tracklist thus leaving "no room" for bonus tracks. This way it is probably faster to get them out. I have absolutely no problem with that. I don't like bonus tracks playing right after the original tracks that I am used to.

Regarding In the Land of Grey and Pink, I don't care about the DD surround version. The stereo shm-sacd is so damn good that I don't want to listen to that album in any other way. I expect For Girls Who Grow Plump... will be similarly good. Now the wait...

The Cream SHM~SACDs (Disraeli Gears and Fresh Cream) have copious bonus tracks. In fact, Fresh Cream is debuting the MONO tracks for the first time (28 cuts in all on 2 SHM~SACDs).

Am listening to the 5.1 of In The Land Or Grey and Pink and it positively is an aggressive surround mix. Of course, why go to the trouble of having Wilson remix an album from scratch and then haphazardly release it in lossy DD (not even DTS).

At least Wilson now solicits the record companies directly to release all his future remixes in DVD~A or BD~A (Especially by convincing DVD~A adverse SONY to release ELP/Takus in MLP 5.1 in lieu of lossy DD or DTS 5.1 which WAS the original plan)).

Hey Ralph,

I think you're forgetting The Who: My Generation and The Who Sell Out ;-)

Mono + stereo as well.
