Received Sudbin's latest newsletter indicating the following about this recording:

The sad news is that this is most likely going to be the last recording with this wonderful orchestra. If you have been following the story, unfortunately, like many US orchestras, Minnesota did not yet manage to recover from its financial troubles and Osmo had to resign as a result.

However, the Beethoven cycle will be completed and recordings of Beethoven 1 & 2 are now being planned with the Tapiola Sinfonietta and Osmo Vanska conducting.

Any more Sibelius in the can from Minnesota?

Robert, very glad to hear that even if the Minnesota O. aren't involved, the Sudbin Beethoven cycle will be finished. Do you have any plans to record the piano arrangement of op. 61?

I somehow doubt it, but if Sudbin is agreeable to it, so am I. We already have it, with Ronald Brautigam and the Norrköping SO, on a modern piano.

Surprised there has been no reaction to this disc, has anybody other than me bought it?

These are controversial interpretations by Sudbin to say the least. Wonder what others make of it all?

I ordered it nearly a month ago from a UK source and it has yet to show up! I hope it and my entire order haven't been lost. I contacted the seller, but they haven't responded, which is unusual for them. The last time an order was late they said I had to 30 days to request replacements, which will be this Friday. I eagerly await since I love his other recordings. Once it shows up, I'll be happy to comment! What makes them "controversial interpretations"?

Yes, I've got it, but have only had the chance to listen once through. My first reaction was that Mr. Sudbin reminded me of why I've always preferred the Mozart concertos with modern piano and orchestra. My second thought was how extraordinarily lucky we are that BIS has chosen to provide us with these alternatives to Mr. Brautigam's explorations of Mozart and Beethoven. Thank you, Robert. I didn't think there was anything particularly controversial in the performances, even Sudbin's cadenzas and eingange in the Mozart seem within the realm of reason and good taste to me (no moustache on the Mona Lisa here) though I imagine his decision to use his own rather than well known alternatives may be controversial in some quarters.

I had to request a replacement set of discs, and this one arrived today--superb on all accounts. The first movement cadenza is quite massive and sounds as if Sudbin is channeling Busoni in places--I love it!
