This 'Desert Island' Thread may primarily be for you to know more about me, so you the careful reader can know what kind of person [during some of my leisure time] is speaking in support of his friend's work.

Who knows when Ken might retire ; I know that products he's had input in are constantly being released, discontinued, released...

For example, perhaps if I'd spoken better for the SA-17S1 then a few more readers may own too this 5.1 channel, audio only (without video) dedicated SA-CD player for playback. Currently, is there—let's not say significant, rather—a 'sufficient' global market for this kind of player ?

Simply, my wish is for a mulit-channel version of the NA-11S1 /showthread/109290 that decodes DSD and other relevant digital...

Happy Lunar New Year !

I've been busy. However, have, today, updated my User Details, especially HiFi (yet not as thoroughly as you nor I'd like).

The above photo has 6 Marantz products (3 I've listed and 3 I've not) in a temporary AV setup during house renovations...

Perhaps I'll soon find time to write more.

Best wishes,
Will

Whatever happened to Ken Ishiwata,s OTT Multi-Channel Wide Bandwidth Soundscape System demoed at Whittlebury Hall UK a few years ago. Was this just a one off setup ?, I found it unlistenable, Ken blamed the room as he invariably does at Shows. It utilised the crazy ITU setup , too much volume coming from the rear speakers etc. A perfect example as to why 5.1 multi-channel SACD audio has never caught on, furthermore this system cost nearly £40K a total waste of money. My non-high end audio system sounds far better.

Obviously, you need a new display.

Have a go at the Panasonic GT60, VT60 or ZT60 plasma displays for truly stunning images. They are beauties!!

I would recommend Samsung LED display. Plasma is on the way out.

Interesting because Plasma is the better display by far especially in movies in a darkened room. Stay away from LCD panels.

My brother got rid of his Panasonic Plasma TV because he found it far too dark and is very happy with his new Samsung LED TV. I would not agree that Plasma is the better display in Movies either in a dark or well lit room in fact Plasma is hopeless in a well lit room.
