Thanks....the only thing that worries me from your post is "louder".....hope this has nothing to do with compression. You can easily judge by listenin to "organ" tracks. Hopefully this set might turn my opinion on recent stereo-only releses.

With "louder" I mean that with the same volume level on the receiver while playing both SACDs, the "Going FTO 2013" is heard as if the volume level was higher than when is playing the AF, but without distorting. I have not really reached the receiver volume levels too high but the sound of the church organ tracks like Parallels is clear-cut, truly awesome. Bazcrim, what do you think about the organ tracks in GFTO and CTTE?

Working my way through these. I found on first listen that CTTE was a tad harsh in certain places. The organ section did distort to my ears. On Fragile the same, especially on South Side of the Sky around the piano section. Strangely, the tracks on what was the 2nd side of Fragile are perfect. Excellent sound all round. Long Distance Runaround/The Fish gave me goosebumps. GFTO was excellent. Plenty of oomph from the bass and Wakemans piano intro to Awaken was sparkling. No problem with the organ sections on that or Parallels. I do have the feeling the issues I am hearing are more to do with state of the tapes used, than the actual mastering. Maybe i am wrong. Thats as far as i have got so far. Overall i am very pleased with these.

Any comparison you might have with the HDTracks 24/192 releases would also be helpful...glad to hear that there is hope for these yet. :D

My experience with HDtracks has been a bit disappointing. I have many HDT and they sound good but are overrated. In my opinion they lack dynamics and sound amplitude, the opposite of DVDA and SACD formats and even in many cases I prefer the CD sound. It is very important the type of music in question: jazz and classical are heard well, but when the music has use of guitars and synthesizers with top notes as in the case of YES, things change. It is essential that the recording from which HDT come is initially high quality. HDtrack promote audio converters that fail in quality results that they proclaim because there is no mixing and remastering work that really provide high resolution. Just compare The Yes Album HDT with TYA Atlantic German remastered CD version, (and it's not so good than Rhino's) the latter is much more pleasant in sound amplitude, the HDT feels off, and the 2013 version is very far of HDT. There is no point of comparison between any SACD versions and HDT. By the way I just heard the TalesOTO and The Yes Album and they are really beautiful, on a scale of 1 to 10, I put them 9. I have no complaints. My advice: if you're "pro not compression" forget the HDT and switches to SACD. SACD, -Compression Must Die- believe me, is not dead. -Sylvian- you'll love church organ on "I've seen all good people". This is just my point of view. Any other opinion?

It is well known fact, that The Yes Album (2003, Inglot) has very good sound (RBCD) unlike CTTE (2003, Inglot) that sounded flat in comparison to previous Gastwirt remaster. Also noticed, that the price of the SACD-box has slightly dropped to 400€ margin.....still too high to go for it.

540 USD is very high, CDJapan has it in 383 USD. I hope the price decrease, or sold separately albums like Genesis, KC and The Doors did.

I have been listening to the HV box for a couple of days now and am very pleased with the overall quality.

As indicated the box does not contain MLPS, but standard jewel cases. the artwork is nicely reproduced. The booklet shows the cover, the vinyl label and inner sleeves of the original LPs. All lyrics are printed in English. The rest is all Japanese to me :)

Now as to sound, I have started making comparisons with my AF (CTTE, GFTO, 90125), MOFI (TYA, F), as well as the DVD-A (F) titles ….The experience of the HV box has not been unpleasant, but the straight comparison between CTTE places the AF SACD ahead in terms of smoothness. I do not really like brick walled editions and the HV certainly sounds loud (and clearer) ..... The GFTO HV edition also sounds slightly brighter than the AF Hoffman master. In contrast, there is more definition in the HV editions, especially where the bass is concerned. Not a bad thing overall.

TFTO sounds fantastic, and so does Relayer. The 90125 HV edition simply sounds like it should, but then the Hoffman AF was controversially revisionist (a different reason to hang on to it).

I do not regret buying this set, but for select titles, I recommend waiting for the SW remixes.

Two weeks listening High Vibration has been more than enough!. I believe this is the best record collection of "classical" YES (70's) and a 80's little part. The japanese really did a great job of remastering and mixtures, they have great technology and his love for this music is evident. So the work is also did with love and it is not just a marketing's product. Those with have two or three SACD players will have great fun setting to enjoy this wonderful music in different ways. In all of them the sound achieved is clear, bright and powerful. Chris's bass never heard so deep and defined, the keyboards sections are strong and sharp. Vocals and choruses are high and ethereal. The word "sublime" for Howe's guitars is close. Bruford: hard and chronometric at his best. Overall in a scale of 1 to 10 I put it 9 indeed.

The remasterization's goal is to improve the old analog recordings and I think here it was somehow achieved and in addition there is a very nice SACD uncompressed 88.2khz-24bit PCM stereo mix and DSD in HDMI 1.3a version. Do not forget that this forum is meant to comment on the virtues of SACD recordings. This collection is a must for lovers of SACD and YES and I highly recommend it for those fans mainly and why not, for not fans too.

All right, my favourites are : Close To The Edge, Tales From Topographic Oceans, The Yes Album, Going For The One, Fragile and 90125 in this order. I like so much: Yes, Time And A Word and Drama. I can live without Relayer, Tormato and Big Generator, but of course, this is just my personal taste .

This collection features Yessongs, which is said to be the best progressive rock album recorded live and its ok. It is worth mentioning the bonus disc containing sensational singles (America always the best but Bernstein's Something's Coming, Soon and Dear Father are great! there is a rare version of OOALH). The ugly duck is the book that may have contained better and more YES pictures and all traductions in english. The conventional plastic cases take up more space than miniLPs, but this is almost "peccata minuta" due the sound quality achieved .

The problem here is that many people do not like the stereo mix in place of 5.1 mix, but folks, we have been listening YES in stereo all of our life. If you do not have a YES "classic" collection, this is the time to go for it and you will not regret it. I am really delighted with this superb collection.

For those who want some more, it comes soon a Steven Wilson's collection mixed in 5.1 surround and stereo sound in DTS HD MA, LPCM and DVDA (the latter in another edition) that promises to be wonderful and I'm waiting forward to. CTTE will be released in november, SW certainly announced that another album is on the way early 2014, but he did not say which will it be, so prepare your wallets. He also said that he will consider "classic" titles, then forget 80's onwards. SW remasters and mixes albums he like only, however he always offers many great options in his releases at affordable prices. We'll see and listen SW very soon!.
