Is this for real. Wow. Wonder if it's DSD or just upsampled 24/88.1?

Looks good. I have a niche waiting for this as long as reviews here and elsewhere indicate that its better than that dreadfully sung Channel Classics version that appeared a couple of years ago. It'll sit in nicely next to my beloved Harnoncourt DVD-A and will replace the aforemention Channel set.

p.s. anyone know anything about the accompanying DVD?

There is an interesting video on youtube about the new Jacobs SACD release:

... and it does seem to look very promising indeed. Pre-ordered. It may be especially of interest to the surround crowd (see the video).

------
ASIDE:

Although I am quite fond of the one-voice per part approach as used by Kuijken for the cantatas, ... in the case of St Matthew's Passion, Kuijken's SACD version:

Bach: St Matthew Passion - Kuijken

... just does not have sufficient gravitas to work for me. I suspect the Jacobs will be much more successful, based on the snippets I have heard.

"Unfortunately, this video is not available in Germany, because it may contain music for which GEMA has not granted the respective music rights."

Welcome to the 20C...

Would someone know whether the original recording format is DSD or the 24bit/96kHz PCM on sale from two online download stores? I would like to purchase this piece in a format as close to the master as possible.
Thanks for your help.

AMAZON UK have a very attractive pre-order price on this at the moment ... and a further about 16% off if you live outside the UK for VAT.

I have to say, it's a pretty hideous cover. Reminds me of the equally bad Harnoncourt one.
