I have had this disc since 2009 (paid $10 for it in like new condition) and have rarely played it because of what I perceived as lackluster sonics.

If EVER there was a need for tweaking, this superlative double disc was a prime candidate. Last night I gave it my Rammiepie super tweak applications: first I scrubbed it with Mapleshade Polish, applied two coats of Ultra Vivid and placed my new Marigo HD damper atop the disc (player was an OPPO BDP 105) and cranked up the volume.

I was NOT prepared for the "extreme" sonic upgrade and played the entirety of disc one which ended with a rousing Born to Run.

All the guitar solos, etc. were blazing. What was once obscured under a layer of inaudible "grunge" was suddenly lucid.

Bruce's voice was amazing and the rear channels, utilized mostly for audience noise and ambience, added to the impact of this simply amazing double disc collection.

Whoever says Rammie's tweaks don't work should pay more attention. I specialize in getting the most out of my SACD/DVD~A collection, especially those occasional stinkers which garner 1 or 2 stars for sonics (SQ).

Bruce Springsteen Live In NYC Rocks big time and this disc will be in heavy rotation for some time to come.

I am extremely doubtfull regarding this polish technology. I do not find any logical and apparent argument that could support the idea this would improve sound.

How does it work ?

On a majority of discs which I have successfully treated, it's like a layer of grunge has been removed. Multichannel discs, especially, have better directionality and more pronounced rear channel information. Probably why downloads sound better in some instances............direct from a hard drive.

Closer to the music.

If it's exact science you want you'll just have to try it out for yourself. A lame answer, to be sure, but it really works. And on all five of my systems with different components and radically different acoustical environments, it works ALL THE TIME! Always play discs before and after....in EVERY instance prefer the "after."

Of course the "after" sounds better to you, nobody likes to feel like an idiot.

The fumes liberated by the polish liquid could have a psychotropic effect on the user's brain, leading to a different perception of the sound.

PERHAPS I should've prefaced my Bruce Springsteen Live In NY success with: BASED ON A TRUE STORY. That always gets the bleeding hearts motivated.

And Tom, HOOP......I thought you were my buddy. Reminds me of that Bryan Adams Song: Cuts Like a KNIFE.

As for SAM.......FD.......he doesn't have time to polish his discs as he's busy busy brushing up on his Thai and Chinese so he can haggle for cheap SACD prices on his trip to the Orient and then resell them at egregious prices (to unsuspecting "clients") on E~Bay.

And my dear Claude. What can I say. Your British Wit is priceless! What you lack in "Polish" you make up for in sophistication.

Alone and Rejected in ole New York,

Rammiepie, Bruce & The E Street Band (sounding more alive than EVER)!

Sniff! Guess I'll hang my tears out to dry.

A lone wolf in a Parasitic Universe

Ralph, i was just tired of all the bickering about tweaks, We both know they work wonders and i would never not use it but when these people that never tied it and saying it doesn't work, well if they don't have anything good to say maybe they just need to keep their mouth shut.

. I follow the dynamic range data base the original cd was not recorded well. the sacd was not there. so . most songs are in the red = bad loud recording. I have goop but dont use it much. sorry but a bad loud recording is what it is. and I bet a disc with out goop recorded in the green will sound better that any tweaked disc in the yellow or red. plus goop makes scratches on discs from polishing them. what it does do is help problem discs read better. I have some disc recorded in the red I may try my acrilic aluminator on them but will it help? I put the stuff on a lot of discs and never heard any better sound quality. most of my disc are recorded in the green = good so I think thats why.
