I will give this a listen for my favourite Tchaikovsky symphony - I do have the Czech PO/Kobayashi on SACD (Exton) which I like a lot, despite the croaking...
Here in Melbourne we are looking forward to Jansons conducting it with the Concertgebouw soon.
Last year it was played by the Melbourne SO at the open-air Sidney Myer Bowl where the very large (30,000?) audience of picnickers were really rapt during the powerful account of the Andante under Diego Matheuz.

I've been thoroughly enjoying this one. I'd be interested in more Tchaikovsky from this team (especially the fourth and sixth symphonies and the suites from the other two ballets).
