Just received my copy, don't be misled by the "Not yet released' tag. Its worth the money just for the Munch cover design idea that changes disc to disc. Good to have a rival set to BIS as well.

I have had my eye on this series for a while. I agree... it is always nice to have alternative versions.
How does it compare with the BIS versions??
And... Which volume would you recommend as a good starting off point??

Certainly suggest Vol I to start as it contains Grieg's most famous work Peer Gynt. The Bergen Phil is a classier orchestra under Rudd than the WDR and it shows in places with crisper discipline but it's a tight call over such a wide survey hence room for both.

I have most of the BIS series. I agree that it's very good. But, this music is so beautiful. It certainly deserves several performances.
And.. we already have quite a bit of Beethoven, Mahler, Bruckner , etc... ;-)

Too early to post any kind of meaningful review but initial impression is that this disc sounds a little different to the previous volumes with less distortion in the upper strings, so it could be that Audite are recording at 96/24 now as rumoured on an earlier thread. Many orchestras backed by local broadcasters where much of their recorded work is simultaneously broadcast seem to prefer 88.2/24. Whatever, if they were using 48/24 before they seem to have stepped up a notch.
This comes across as a very enthusiastic and committed performance played with great gusto, somewhat relentless at first hearing.
