I thought vols. 2 and 3 were well recorded (I haven't heard vol. 1), but this sounds even better.

Hear, hear about vols 2 and 3. I shall be seeking out vol 4 with eagerness. Brautigam is in great form (though I would love to hear more elaborate ornamentation from him) and the Kolner Akademie (which I had not heard before) is wonderful.
While the concertos are slowly being released, we also need to persuade Bissie that a Mozart complete string trio, quartet and quintet series with period instruments recorded in an appropriate room on SACD is worthwhile!

It is also pre-1800 which must be an incentive for you... ;-)

Not only is it well recorded ,performance wise, it has even made me a bit of a convert regarding HIP performance and Fortepiano. The first five six times I heard it I still superimposed, sort of heard a grand piano, playing, on top of the actual one. But now I enjoy it as it is,ie most probably very close to what Mozart himself was used to hearing and playing. I am obviously still not too old to learn. And I too eagerly await the next release in the series, provided it is 24/96 of course,I am still a bit fussy about certain little things.
