Piano Concerto is not bad. Performance is good but not exceptional. Piano recording is always extremely difficult work and very rarely is successful. This is no exception. Yet one can enjoy! Symphonic works are excellent, both very good performance and silky analog-like sound. Overall, I would recommend this disc.

Hi this is to Simon's comment with regard to piano works. Glen Goulds SACD, Bach The Goldenberg Variations is IMHO the disc that might change your mind about HIREZ PIANO.

This 5.0 multi-channel hybrid SACD contains absolutely THE best performance and recording of Grieg's Piano Concerto I've ever heard and I have heard many! This was recorded in DSD with the help of the Sony DSD team way back in 2002 and edited on a Sonoma DSD workstation, so it is pure DSD. It also contains excellent performances and recordings of Grieg's lesser know Symphony and Concert Overture "In Autumn". The pianist Noriko Ogawa mastery and commend of this piece is impressive from the start. Her phrasing is beautiful and her drama and technique, powerful. Conductor Ole Kristian Ruud is a fantastic partner with the Bergen Philharmonic at his helm. The recording technicians have also done a superb job at capturing the warm acoustics of Bergen Hall with its almost perfect reverberation time of around 1.75 seconds. If you want the best Grieg Piano Concerto performance and recording, this is the one to own.
