This is another fantastic release from MoFi. Another winner I should say. I love the clear vocals by JT and the wonderful backup singers. You can almost discern their individual voices in the background. This is most evident in the opening song Hard Times. JT's duet with J.D. Souther in Her Town Too demonstrated the uncanny clarity of acoustic guitar and the accompanying string section. Crisp percussion sounds that goes with vigorous drumming and glorious electric guitar slide solo highlight Hour That The Morning Comes. Watch out for the energetic and dynamic harmonica solo in Stand And Fight. After I was overwhelmed by details I got to relax by bossa nova inspired Summer's Here. I always like closing song That Lonesome Road, now presented in high resolution, 'love it even more.

I wasn't fortunate to buy the earlier Sony multichannel sacd so I can only compare it with the Columbia/Sony U.S. version cd. The MoFi beats the rbcd in every department. I highly recommend this to all JT fans.

I have a love/hate relationship with Mobile Fidelity. Its difficult to deal with such a great label when their quality is all over the place. And to spend money when said company is both good and bad or hot and cold is a difficult pill to swallow. We music lovers who buy classic rock only have three labels to purchase our music from. And the other two Labels are far more consistant in their quality.

Its not that Mofi releases bad titles because their catalogue is rather distinct and well rounded. Its just that one never knows which quality beast will rear its head. Is it the Company that gives us flat transfers that are lifeless and boring or is it the Company that can give us the Foreigner disc and several other gems??? Does Mofi have quality issues due to their mastering decisions or is it their equipment...or both???

Thankfully with this release I have to give credit where credit is due. Mobile Fidelity did a wonderful job on this disc. Will all subsequent sacd's be this good??? I wonder.

This is considered that last great album produced in the James Taylor discograghy and it is very good indeed. The first audio quality I noticed on this disc was the awesome midrange followed by a great bottom end. And the gorgeous vocals were layered on top to produce a terrifc soundstage. Taken as a whole the entire sacd is pretty remarkable in all apsects. It has a life like quality that is very nice to listen to and ones interest in the music is held for the duration of the disc. I guess thats what Im really trying to say in this review. This disc is very musical and a pleasure to listen to. Whether its the singing or the playing its all good on this sacd.

Great job Mofi.

Highly recommended.

I am beggng Mofi to get their stuff together and be more consistent.
