Reviews: Soler: Selected Sonatas for Harp - Godelieve Schrama

Reviews: 1

Performance:   Sonics:
A lovely offering of harp sonatas by the Catalan composer Padre Antonio Soler. Originally composed for harpsichord, these sonatas have a transparency that makes them suitable for the harp as well. Their sunny, carefree manner is very appealing. Hard to imagine that they were composed by such a highly ascetic monk. (I guess he had a Cell with a View.) Harpist Godelieve Schrama is completely at home in these delightful works. Her playing is spontaneous and subtle. The recording is also a joy to listen to. The delicate sounds of her harp are well captured in multichannel. Here and there we can even hear the sound of the harp's petals. Not at all distracting...rather it adds to the realism. Warmly recommended!!
