Reviews: The Band: Northern Lights - Southern Cross

Performance:   Sonics:
The Band recorded this using a 24 track console, and added string instruments, synthesisers, loops etc. It was very high tech for them at the time. Sadly like most great bands I think they were past their peak and going through the motions when they recorded this album. You could use words like OK or competent to describe the songs. Acadian Driftwood is the exception and is a superb ballad. Unfortunatley the other tracks seem to plod along and they sound like any "run of the mill" country, roots band. There just isn't the energy or passion of the first two albums

Sonically MOFI have done a great job. The tracks sound crisp and the whole album has an analogue feel. The bass and percussion come through clearly without trying to deafen you.
