This is the DVD sound track on SACD. The sound is maybe somewhat better than the DD5.1 but it is not up to modern standards. Allman Brother's Fillmore from 1971 is actually much better. Buy the DVD instead because then you'll get the video and actually the audio on the DVD is pretty OK for a music DVD. Avoid this mediocre SACD because of poor sonic performance. 20 years ago S sounded better ....

This was a great show...I saw Springsteen in Boston for this tour, but while the SACD does capture some of the energy of it, the recording is pretty bland. Production is not much better, with some guitar solos being inaudible. Bruce deserves better!

I certainly agree with the two previous reviews. It is a rare SACD now and worth grabbing for that fact, but not the sonics. I actually checked the read light on my SACD player to make sure it was SACD encoded. Granted, pitting this one against the Allman Brothers Live at The Fillmore East is a bit drastic, as Fillmore East is one of the best recorded live shows I've ever heard. Possibly more fair is the live tracks included on The Best of Johnny Winter SACD, also recorded in 1970 at the Fillmore. The Winter tracks smoke the Bruce show recording and remastering wise. I selected these tracks because they are Columbia also, although the Bruce was recorded years later, and should be better than the Winter... it's not even close.

I think the Bruce show was recorded "too hot" originally, and in dealing with that, they lost all of the depth and width of the soundstage. It's much better on the softer duets, etc.., but anytime the band is rocking, it sounds very flat and compressed. Sad, as this was a good show. Tom
