This is the best sound MoFi SACD that I have in my collection. To my ear MoFi often sounds reserved and not as dynamic as vinyl. Whites however is crisp and the dynamics of the guitar in particular will test the best systems. The liner notes provide an interesting story on how the recording came to be and that it was driven by a desire to get back the emotion and connection found in analog recording from live jazz sessions. Whatever shortcomings may exist in early digital recordings the use of a single point Calrec microphone largely erases them with a sense of aliveness on this SACD. Live to two track with no Auto-Tune (didn't exist at the time anyway) is the way to go. The version of Crossroads is as different as you can imagine from the version on Wheels of Fire (Cream) and yet equally valid and interesting. I listened to the stereo and as a 5.0 liked both but would go with the 2 channel.

I have to agree with DURAVIN this SACD is a gem ! Musically this album is very slow moving and sedative by nature and make for a great late evening listen. Sonically this album is quite a find for the audiophiles too. Like many of the MOFI recordings this is recorded low and even but what makes this one soooo good is the clear seperation and character.

I absolutely love this disc both musically and sonically. The music is very unique and so may not be to everyone’s taste but I find it highly inventive and enjoyable. The singing is very laid back and bluesy while the music is modern and somewhat Avant-garde. A combination I find very compelling. Another reviewer mentioned it was the kind of music for listening to late at night while sipping a good single malt which I found to be a perfect description. I only have listened in stereo output but the sound of that is the best of any disc I own.
