Performance: Sonics:
I have listened to a number of these new Venus SACDs and they are just fantastic. This one is no exception. The playing is classic trio. All three members shine. Bill Charlap is one of the finest pianist around especial when it comes to standards. This looks to be a 24 bit PCM recording that has been translated to DSD yet I don't think I have heard a better recording. The piano may have been a tad bright on the first track but the rest of the time everything sounds just fantastic. If you like jazz trios or the American Songbook do yourself a favor and pick this up while you can.
