| This was not my favorite Moody Blues album, but is certainly much better in this format than any other I have listened to over the years. I have the old Quad 4 track of this and it was never as open as I hoped, this time they did it right. Please don't expect much action with the center and subwoofer, you will not get it. This SACD is pretty true to the original quad mix, but that doesn't make it bad. I think quad was pretty great if it was done right. This was done right, sounds great, with fantastic placement and action with the rear channels; never overdone, very smooth. I certainly recommend it, and it will wisk you away back 35 years.

I bought all five SACDs and have been a Moody Blues fan since the late late 1960's.
The engineers kept these SACDs as close to the original sound as they could. As a result, the emphasis is on the bass, vocals, mid-range, and a smoooooth sound.
The vocals and bass guitar are outstanding. Better than the record, in my opinion. The SACD is dynamic and makes the CD sound flat. And everything is smoooooth. The instruments stand out. On the CD, I have difficulty telling the instuments from one another.
Sonically, Question is my second favorite of the SACDs -- behind Days. It appears more dynamic and has better clarity that some of the other MB SACDs. The drums still are muted. It's as if they are behind the curtain. And the trebble is smooth, but drops off way to early. I guess the engineers wanted that smoooooth sound.

| Being the big fan of the Moody Blues that I am, I was excited to learn Universal was going to issue 5 SACD's by this super group. I've always considered their music to be more intellectual than most other rock music; rock for people with brains. This is clearly one of my faves. But all is not perfect here. First, the sticker on the digipak case clearly states the recording inside is a 5.1 mix. 4.0 is more accurate. It's the same as the original quad reel tape, which I wore out! My center channel and subwoofer were completely silent when I played the SACD. I think I not have been disappointed if the pre-release hype, and the sticker on the cover, had stated the recording was 4.0 instead of 5.1. I also was not too happy about the extras not being available on the SACD layer. I had to put the disc into a different player to hear them. OK. Shortcomings aside, this is still a fantastic disc. Hearing textures in the music, as well as parts of the music that were masked in a two-channel display, make hearing this, and any, recording in surround more exciting. The fact that I had to order this, and the other Moody Blues SACD's, as imports since Universal has chosen not to release them here in the US. It looks as though I'm going to have to go offshore to get most of my SACD's, as the major record companies here in the States have pretty well abandoned SACD and DVD-Audio. Sad.

| Stereo SACD sounds seriously limited by the quality of the original master tapes. Didn't find all that much to get excited about here compared to the MoFi CD release of this one, dynamics and general resolution haven't changed that much from the original CD version. Getting the old quad mix again is really fun though.
