A historically very interesting disc. It is music from the early baroque. Trumpets were only pieces of brass tube and were as a result out of tune at some notes. Players had to pitch those notes with their lips. Furthermore only a very limited range of notes is possible on those instruments.

This recording features music for trumpets (and a few other instruments like shawns) in ensembles typical for that time.
The instruments used seem to be faithful replica's (no vent holes etc.), because not all notes of the trumpets are in tune, which gives in my opinion a realistic historic picture.
An interesting track is the last one, with a real battle (containing trumpet signals, cannons, horses, fighting, yelling).

The stereo sound is very good in my opinion. Unfortunately I cannot listen in multichannel.

Highly recommended! (although it might be boring to most people who are not interested in authentic music and trumpets)
