C. Mangione flh, C. Korman p & keyb, J. Azzolina g, P. Braga ds, Cafe perc, D. Finck b & eb, K. Reid eb, S. Carter cel, G. Niewood ft & aft, M. Adnet vcl, J. Presti vcl, A. Sanders vcl, Chesky 1998.
Mangione plays ten tracks with a Latin American touch, four compositions of him. It is easy listening latin jazz pop and what a difference it is between this stuff and his 1978 worldwide hit “Children of Sanchez”, that made him famous! He is playing one track from that legendary record “Consuelo`s Love Theme”, but the interpretation is a bit embarrassing. His playing is sweet and lovely and not far from elevator sound. If this is the feeling that has come back, it doesn`t reach very deep. The sound is perfect (Chesky), rich of colour, very good soundstage and imaging, air for the instruments to breath, very dynamic, brilliant.
