Well I thought I would never replace my favourite normal CD of this work as Ive had numerous versions like quite a few few others I imagine plus a number of vinyls. The prospects of a Decca 96hz Hong Kong issue was too much even though it only has This one work. Its 38 minutes of bliss.Sonically It is outstanding with just a touch of hifi but the fidelity tone and performance will definitly make you listen and pay attention to a work you probably would just normally put on again as aural wallpaper. Not this version.Probably because this is a cut down sized orchestra so Individual clarity is to the fore.I would also add for the fellas that the artwork for the insert with this lady is also eye candy and something to behold. Wheras Im not at all bothered about DGG leaving the SACD arena If Decca can produce this qualityon 96hz/24 bit then this outstrips plenty of pure dsd Ive got...Though I would knock off a few stars for short measure..Dave

Well I was first hesitating before buying this SACD , but after listening I'm quite happy of my Choice
I got allready some 4 seasons like :Il Giardino Armonico , Carmignola, or Fabio Bondi ...
I think that at the interpretation level of this version is a little bit inferior as those famous one but still at a high quality level and very close to the best one
But at the tecnical point of view the quality is perfect , very transparent, very natural (due to the few player maybe, only 7?)
You got really the impression that the player are there, it is a pity that it is not the case when you see the charm of Janine Jansen!

This version has the magic that the one by the Moscow Chamber Orchestra conducted by Constantine Orbelian doesn't have... The Four Seasons with Janine Jansen bring you far away beyond when the other one mentioned left you behind. When you compare the two SACD, you better understand what Art means !

Yes. This is THE one to have. Short measure, but enthralling performances and splendid PCM sound, far better than many pure DSD recordings. Run out and buy it!

I really like this sacd. There are not more that seven individual players who create the sound of this sacd but it sounds like a lot more. The sound is rich and deep. This is a 24/96 pcm recording but it sounds pretty darn good. It has a little warmth and the sound is fairly three dimensional and it has a lot of musicality to it. The playing is very good.

The only thing I would add is that certain liberties are taken in the construction of the pieces. ASpparently we all know how this famous piece sounds as there are thousands of recordings that have a similar feel. It is not quite 100 percent of the famous Vivaldi Four Seasons that we all know and love. Ms. Jansen deviates in her playing but not by to much. There is just some subtle differences that a person can pick out upon their first listen.

Highly recommended for performance and sound quality.

Compliments to the chef!
I already had Vivaldis four season's on D-Grammophone CD with Perlman, Stern, Zukerman, & the israeli philharmonic, which was one of my favorite classicals up to then.
J.Jansen's well deserved the attention and the award she got for this one.
Where my older CD goes into the large orchestra spectacle, and there, I find loses out abit on intimacy, I find that Jansen's performance with the small chamber, that really intimately brings it close to the listener - a stellar performance that well deserves the sacd-format! I don't have surround, so just the stereo rating!

It was tough to find this particular SACD but it turned out to be well worth it. It's such a tender and intimate performance, and is captured brilliantly. You can hear little subtle details of Jansen's playing, right down to the vibrations of individual strings. The soundstage is large and wide with very clear separation between the instruments. It's a more fluid and romantic interpretation than other versions I've heard, but it works well and only adds to my enjoyment. Easily one of the best SACDs I own, so highly recommended!
