I have mentioned that channel Classics are spectacularly good at these types of recordings before and I must say the same again with this release.
If period Chamber Music is something you like you must not pass this release up. I really like Ms. Podgers previous Bach concerto sacd's and while this release features a smaller group of performers the music is simply awesome in every way.

Podger wields a very alluring bow and her playing is always creative and passionate. If you like meditative classical music.........music that takes you away..........give this sacd a try.

This disc is not Bach but Italian pieces mostly from the 1600's. The pieces have their own feel and charm. While there are only 3 musicians rather than the 10 or 7 that played with Podger on her previous Bach discs.......it matters not. This music packs a very potent musical punch. The recording is fabulous in every way. The sound is dense and deep. Instruments sparkle with texture and feel. When this sacd is played loudly it has a very lifelike sound and the performers are really brought into clear and precise focus.

Thanks to Channel Classics for another splendid sacd of not only beautiful music and performances but also of another awesome recording that captures the historical feel of this type of music. The listener really is transported to the venue from which the recording emanated from.

Highly recommended in every way. Thanks to Channel for another great release.

Play this one very loud and escape into a long lost period of music that still manages to entrance the listener.
