Well, what can I say. This is an excellent performance, and an excellent recording. Yes, it is PCM, but at least it is real, bonefide high resolution PCM, unlike the plethora of releases that are nothing more than redbook CD upconverts. I have several sets of the Concerto Grossi by Handel. This one contains fine playing for sure, and if this were simply the CD release, all would be well. Good playing, good CD sonics.

I adore Alison Krauss. This album is full of early classics that are sure to please.
That said, if you already have this on CD, or if you can find it on CD at a better price, you should stick to that. This is (as is unfortunately often the case) another fleecing of the audio consumer. A repackaged ... more |

A wonderful SACD with intriguing performances!!! I find these interpretations to be very interesting. Perhaps not orthodox? Not being a classically trained organist, still I suspect these aren't for the purists our there.
