Well, I don't like this. I have two recordings of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Op. 49 (Kuchar(Naxos), Pletnev (DG)) and this isn't good performance.
1) Gergiev's tempi are too slow: the lyrical second theme is too hurry. Orchestra's playing is boring, they plays like a machine. The overture moves ... more |

I enjoyed Osmo Vänskä's Beethoven cycle with Minnesota Orchestra, and now this superb team continues with Bruckner's Fourth Symphony in E flat major "Romantic". There are 1888 version of this symphony, and it is very different than earlier versions.
