An excellently recording with ideal piano sound. Jin Ju's account of the op. 17 Fantaisie is one of the finest of recent years, occasionally ruminative, but with a firm impetus. One never feels the music is in danger of coming to a halt as with Pletnev's DG account.

One of the finest of all Schumann symphony cycles is here given a new lease of life in EMI Japan's hybrid stereo three SACD set. One more disc than the EMI Great Recordings of the Century incarnation - but unlike that set, here the Manfred Overture is included.

An excellent E2 from Ashkenazy, in fact I think I enjoyed this more thean the E1. The recording is excellent on my system: rich but detailed, giving the perfect sound picture for Elgar. The harp comes through the sound picture admirably to reveal Elgar's genius for scoring.

I can add little to the existing review: this is an excellent SACD of some unduly neglected works, superbly played and recorded - of particular pleasure to me, as a former cellist, albeit very much an amateur one.
