An excellent and generous collection of Wagner overtures and preludes. This seems to be the first SACD to include the overture to "Rienzi". This is a very spirited performance that can be warmly recommended. The sound is spacious and natural, with velvet strings and cutting brass and much bloom on the woodwind. Sonically, this is one of the best SACDS to be released by Sony. The spatial definition, scope and depth are amazing, almost giving the impression of a multi-channel recording.
